Title: Local Garage, not for parking but for working
Post by: Ferrell75002 on August 26, 2008, 06:41:46 AM
I have this dream that somewhere in the city there is a garage that will rent space to you for the day and allow you to work on your bike. Does this exist ?? I just purchased a full exhaust and I would like to install it myself and then just let the dealer reset the TPS. I figure, I can save some cash and have a fun day doing something cool to my bike. If anyone knows if a garage like this exist, please please let me know as this is not a job that can be done on a brooklyn sidewalk.
Thanks,
F-

Actually it does exist. lol but you can install an exhaust with hand tools in about an hour or two depending on how good you can everything to fit.

Edit: cant find it, but it is linked on TOB somewhere.

I got pretty friendly with the garage attendants at my public garage in the city so they let me do all the work there (even spray painting my exhaust udder/pipes).  Maybe you can find a friendly garage attendant that'll let you do that for a day?

It might be able to be down on the street, but its a hypermotard, so I have to take off the fairing, remove the gas tank to get to the air box and the ecu. Thats mine concern is having parts laying all over the street. I will closely look over the kit and see, it would be nice to be able to work in a enclosed area.

All mods and maintenance for 3 different bikes including but not limited to - HIDS, rearsets, oil changes, clip ons, levers, brakes pad changes, fuel tank repairs, all sorts of electrical wiring splicing/soldering for turn signals, gps & radar, heated clothing and grips, master cylinder swaps, brake and clutch bleeds, exhaust swaps, tail chops, can chops, chain/sprocket swaps, and I seem to remember something about cam chains and multiple engine epsiodes...

all done on the lovely sidewalk outside of the crib. Nothing's more satisfying then seeing tools and parts all over the sidewalk. It's NYC afterall and people should expect it. Just check the forecast before you start working...  [bang]

hahaha where do you live bro?

Anything that takes less than a days work can be done on the sidewalk. Chchadder and I have spent 8 hour days on the side walk doing bullshit work, removing wheels, drilling out stripped fasteners, swapping masters, clip ons, etc.

Seriously, exahust should take 2 hours at a easy pace. Fairings off  5 minutes, bring em into your place, lift tank swap ECU and filter setup. Close tank, done.Removing exhaust should take no more than 10-15minutes. getting everything to fit perfectly should be the rest of the time.
