Hey guys! Im new on here. I usted to get on the other board before it went to shit. I do alot of lurking and reading but not to much posting. Just wanted to ask a ? I've got a 05 S4R. I've got a PCIII on the way and am trying to figure out what map to use. Right now I've got the stock pipes on it, but I had a slight accident the other day ( first in 13 years of street driving). Im ok thanks to good gear. Bike was mostly ok. Just a few little parts scuffed up and bent alittle. The speedy moto frame sliders did the trick! So back to the point; I dented my pipes up alittle and am looking at this as an excuse to put new ones on, however I'm in medical school right now and have NO free time at all to take the bike to get it dyno'd(closest place over an hour away). So i'm going to try to get/load a map that will get me through till i can get it done. Probably a couple of months. Also during this time I'm waiting on the ducati dealer to get me some Termi's. I have looked for months and months at pics of exhausts. I finally decided on these.

(I found this pic on here so thanks to whoever's it is!)
my plan is to use these as slip-ons for now. Then get the Quat-d headers and ad them to these for a "full-system" and at that time have it dyno'd and custom mapped.
so, on the powercommander website several of the maps for the S4R are for the "european" model. My bike is and american model.

What difference does this make if any?
Which map should I use when I'm using these as slip ons with the stock "udder" still in place??
Do you guys think that this will make me a good system?? I really like the way that these exausts come up directly from the "udder" to the tail of th bike, instead of using the two "s" pipes that most of the exhausts (including the stock ones) use. I think also once I get rid of the udder it will look good with the pipes coming up at that same angle.
thanks for your replies and once again Hi to everyone!!
I swapped my lower seat with a Doctor who had an S4R a while ago; wonder if it was you. Anyways sorry about your accident but glad you are okay. You would want one of the non-European maps (emission standards for Europe are different so the base map on your ECU is going to be different). The best thing to do is get the map that is closest to your set up. Any of the first few will work fine. You can also experiment with different maps if you are undecided on which one would be the best but unless you have ridden many Ducatis of th same model as yours then you are not going to really know without getting it Dynod. Good luck with school.
Thanks! no,i it wasn't me. I'm still in school, haven' traded seats with anyone. So will any of the first few maps work? I thought some were for the S4 not the S4R which is what I have?
Might want to read up on some of the close loop thread over in Accessories & Mods section:

"Minor update from Dynojet on Power Commanders:
PowerCommander III - Dynojet now lists a PCIII for a 2008 S4R (which is odd...as there are no S4R in 2008) module which does not tune below 5250 RPM and below 19% throttle unless you also have the DP ECU. Their 1098 PCIII has the same disclosure."
Remember. You can adjust the fuel in the low, mid and high ranges via the buttons on the faceplate as well. I had to do the low range on mine even after a dyno map was done. Just a hair too rich at 13.1 on the low end for me....
Yea I read about that whole thing...but it shouldn't effect me because I have an 05 S4R right? Mine should be a straight foward application I think.

If you are referring to an O2 sensor (or lack thereof) then yes, yours is straight forward if you do not have an O2 sensor. Plug it in, load a closer map for what you have on the bike and start tweakin it... Since you are getting a PCIII I would suggest opening the airbox or at least a high flow filter, preferrably both. I for one love the intake honk! [thumbsup]

You should be fine, but also if you are only changing to a slip-on, then you may not need a PCIII. That may change if eliminate the udder and/or open up the airbox, but for just a slip on change you may be able to get away with the stock ECU and save ~$350.

Pretty sure the S4 and S4R have the same engine so it won't make a difference.
I thought the S4 was a 916 and the S4R was a 996....

S4 DSS is a 916
S4R is a 996
Later it became with a 998 with the first S4Rs (im not sure of this actually, the S4Rs came out in 06 but it may of been with a 999 engine)
and then the 999 engine in the S4Rs
an theres also the S4RT which is a testastretta without hte ohlins.
Yeah, so mine is the 05 S4R with the 996 engine in it. So, i have to use a map from powercommander that is for the S4R right? not just any of the maps???
Just trying to figure which map to load when i get the commander in.
If you are keeping the udder for now I think you could get by without a PCIII. Once you have more time and get rid of the udder go the whole 9 yards, get a custom advance map too. Also don't get too far ahead of yourself now. Make sure you can still get those slip on's cause I know some people have found it them hard to find.
I ran a map off the website when I changed to mid pipe and slip on's. The bike felt alright but the mapping was pretty off. When they showed me the old numbers compared to my new ones I was pretty shocked. I know I don't have a 4v like yours but it's the same concept. :)
Yeah thats what im worried about with those pipes. The ducati dealership said that theyre "not available" right now. They said they wouldn't be able to find out when, if at all they would be available untill Ducati Italy opened back up. (since evidently they take vacation in august) They have been communicating with DNA but don't have any specifics yet. Those are really the pipes I want, but I may have to go with something else if those don't come through.
Any idea where I can find these ???
