Went to my local BMW dealer today for a look at the 800GS, and saw this in the showroom.

Turns out it belongs to the owner, and no, he doesn't want to sell.
Doesn't look like he wants to lean it over either. ;D
Where are the pics of the GS?

Sorry, once I saw the MH900, the GS just didn't keep my attention.
Here's one

When I saw the title to this thread my initial reaction was that, "All BMWs are funny looking." So even though your pics are not of a BMW I needed
to write it anyway. That is not BMW bashing since I own one of those funny looking machines.
And where are the pics of the BMW 800 GS?
Wow, is that Aarons new bike? (Owner is Aaron right?) Anyways, he is always flipping through bikes and in fact used to stock Ducati's before selling them to Redline. :-\
Was the 800GS there because Nolan was supposed to call me when it arrived.

Awe there it is [clap]. Not nearly as ugly as I expected. Now how can I trade up my F650 for one of those. Love the red.
See, I don't hate BMWs.
Nice MH900 too [thumbsup]

Hey Chris,
I think it's Aaron. Yeah, it's in, Nolan called me this AM, and since I'm supposed to be doing paperwork today, I ran up there ;D
I like the riding position, I just have to find a way to afford it, and afford the insurance.

Jeff,
I'll have to make my way up there to check it out. I don't know if I should because I'll want one if I see it.
It's Angelo btw ;) I guess we are do for another meet up eh. ;D
Sorry Angelo,
Always been bad w/names.
At least I didn't call you "dude" [roll]
Yeah, if you don't have the $$$, don't go. The 650 is running just under $10k, and the 800 is 11k and up.
Nice tho!
You'd think a dealer would upgrade to a nice billet pressure plate and SS springs. ???

To be fair those do look like brand new tires
That's the best looking Beemer I've seen in a long time! [clap]

I was afraid of the 800 being 11k.... Makes me cry! But on the other hand, it looks like I'll be getting a 696 instead, and that makes me :) !
I had two friends that bought those MH Evos. when they first came out and called it an "investment" when they could have bought new 916's cheaper. :'(
I'd much rather have the beautiful R90S in the background. [thumbsup]
Now a real MH replica I fight ya over.
LA
I used to own one of those GS,they're not that bad looking, plus great for daily use. :) still won't trade my monster though.

I can't understand people who pay good money to park something like this. If I just wanted to stare I'd go to the dealership and do it. ???

The ad says 58, but the picture shows 59...
I'm not real familiar w/ older Ducs , can somebody tell me what the inital picture is of what year and model Ducati ? What would that sell for if one like it was available ? Thanks in advance.
Is it a Mike Hailwood 900 ? I really love the looks , but a friend of mine in the Ducati business told me he had a friend who had one and that it had alot of issues. I think it is from the '80s ? Dolph
According to the owner, it's a 2001, MH900 Mike Hailwood replica, limited to 2000 produced, and a real pain to ride.
I believe the last part, you pretty much have to lay down on the tank with your legs doubled up under you to reach the controls.
The owner is the owner of the local Beemer showroom, adventure BMW, and he says he bought it new from the factory via the internet. It's one of the first off the line.
The owner says he normally keeps it in his living room as sculpture.
Here's a couple more pics.

I have no clue how much it would cost to buy one today, and the owner won't sell.
Ummm... I posted a ebay linky^^^^^ ... so I have some idea what it might bring. As well my local BMW/Duc shop has one for sell as well..... forget what he's asking though. Smitch would know he works there.
Sorry WDB,
Saw that after I posted.
Still, if I had the $$$ and the space. . . ;D
The one on Fleabay is bid at a little over $10K w/ about 9 hours to go.
I couldn't even display it as sculpture...no space,. I already collect too many things that take up too much space.
Might be cool to suspend from the ceiling. Dolph
Haha, Aaron (Owner) is a funny guy! That guy is a nut for sure! He is thinking about adding United Motors to his line up. Aparently BMW does not make bikes for the newbie market.
Well. yeah!
Their "entry level" bike is almost $10k.
They need something they can sell for $4-5k that'll get people in the door, that they can trade up for a BMW down the road.
Just makes sense.
Sorry, but that thing is the most atrocious thing out of the factory, maybe ever... just my 2 cents.
You're talking about the MH900? Really?
I saw a DS1000 wetclutch in a sport classic with that fairing.
The Sport 1000 has a similar fairing to that...
If a GS selling guy says a Ducati is a pain to ride I want to cry .
The MH 900 is the most sexy Duc EVER I think and I would sell my grand mum for one.
Well and this one : http://www.ncrfactory.com/eng/html/11.04.shtml (http://www.ncrfactory.com/eng/html/11.04.shtml)
A sculpture...in the living room...WTF ! [bang]
This baby needs to get to track or at least into the mountains....
It's the bevel drive I lust after, not the rubber band model. They were made from 79 through maybe as late as 85?
Mike was offered a ride on a Ducati 900NCR V-Twin at the Isle of Man F1 race in 1978, he jumped at the chance. At 37, he was thought to be past his prime and hadn't raced on the 37-mile circuit in a decade. He won the six lap race over ordinary two lane country roads bordered by stone walls and buildings at an average speed over 108 mph. An awesome feat for the day. This victory, along with the Imola 200 in 1972, was one of the two most important in the elevation of Ducati to Superbike status.
I don't know how to post a pic. Here's one.
