Title: Bad slave cylinder
Post by: eichh on August 30, 2008, 07:19:40 PM
Ok my clutch felt jacked up so I tried to bleed the line but it would never stiffen up. So I removed the slave cylinder and looking into it I can see fluid seep out when I squeeze the clutch and I also see some dribble out along with air from the weep hole. I assume the slave is bad correct? And if so is there a rebuild kit or do I just get a new one? And finally where do you guys get parts at a decent price. Thanks ,Eichh

2000 and older can be rebuilt, assuming the metal is in good enough shape.  2001 and newer are sealed.  If you replace the cylinder, go aftermarket.  Like most parts, lots of opinions which aftermarket is best.  I have a Yoyodyne and like it.  Search the forum, read the opinions and pick one.

Howie I saw an add for that brand and it mentioned it takes less force to use the clutch with their product have you noticed that? Something about a larger cylinder.  Eichh

Definitely true on a 2000 or older.  The bore of the OEM cylinder was increased in 2001.

I think there are 3 main brands that most people switch to: Yoyodyne, Evoluzione, and something that starts with a M and C? I can't remember the name. I like my Yoyodyne.
