OK, I broke down and bought the EVO slave kit from motowheels.
I got it installed, but the bleeding has been going on an hour+, and it still seems like I am not getting anywhere, no resistance, and it isn't even pushing the piston out if I let the slave hang and pump.
I do not have a bleeder on my master (it is a remote pee cup style), so I can't top bleed.
I have been pumping the lever several times, holding it in, and cracking the lower bleeder about 1/8th turn while the slave is installed on the bike. Sometimes I see bubbles, sometimes not.
Is there an easier way? The shops are closed today, so I can't buy any more fluid to continue, and it is beatiful outside but my bike is in dry dock.

Take your slave of and hold it high
Air goes up
Well, it needed another 5 minutes of bleeding, and the last drop of fluid in the bottle, but finally, a couple large bubbles popped out, and I got a nice resistance. It is solid enough to change gears, and the fluid is just above the min mark, so I am going to leave it for a couple days, then do another bleed next week.
It just seems like something is wrong when you spend an hour, and it still feels like it is not getting better.
PS - the spin around the block already convinced me the 170$ is worth it - so much better feel on the lever - should have done it years ago.

if your bleeding by hand, yea it probably takes more than hour to get some decent pull. Expect it to take a while, the reason is you dont have anything stopping your lever like a brake disc. Your moving a rod that depresses a clutch. Ideally, you should of filled your slave up with fluid before you started to bleed the system.
Just went through this last night installing a friend's new STM slave. Three of us all looked like Popeye with no pressure in the system (although the reservoir did require some refilling a couple times) until we remembered a trick another rider showed us- Flick the lever. Just pull the lever in, slip your fingers off and let it snap back. Do this a few times in succesion. You will see fluid & bubbles spurt back into the reservoir, and within two more flicks and bleeds we had pressure. Just wish we would have remembered the trick an hour earlier.
Used the same tric on another friends 749 on a road trip when he started losing his clutch. Thought we would have to bleed it out on the road, but a couple flicks and it was as good as new without ever opening the system.
