I just installed a PCIII on my S2R800. The instructions say to mount behind the left side panel, but when I upgraded to an S4R Showa shock, I relocated the coil behind the left side panel.
So I followed the PCIII directions for the S4R and mounted it on the battery right behind the airbox. It seems like a tight fit , but once it's latched down, everything looks good.
Does the unit need some clearance for cooling? Do I need to worry about the tank pad pressing the buttons on the faceplate?
That's where I put mine....
Can you tell me how the 3 buttons work? I bought my unit used and didn't get a manual. Looked online and all I found was intallation manuals and using the software.
When I press one of the buttons while it's connected to the software it highlights the RPM range, but I don't know what the each button is set at.
Maybe it's manufacturing differences, but mine didn't fit well under the tank on the battery. :-\ I seemed like it was getting smashed. :-\
I had it under the side panel for a while, but it just seemed like it didn't belong there; however, it was easy for the tech to get to for dyno tuning.
When I removing the oil breather catch tank & relocated the rectifier, I mounted it under the seat. [thumbsup]

It fits just fine if you remove the sound insulation from the bottom of the tank...

That's probably what it was. I left the sound insulation on because I noticed that it cut down some of the valve noise with the open airbox.
Apparently everyone likes putting it there for some reason even though it doesn't fit properly. Just put it in front of your air-box right behind your steering tube.
