Title: IRONMAN - Buffalo Springs
Post by: Slag on September 02, 2008, 01:19:15 PM
Anyone interested in competing in a half ironman in June? I am going to compete next year. I had planned to do it this year but I broke a rib in Feb. I am looking for training partners, especially on the bike.

***, I think you have the Ironman and the Ironbutt confused.

Ironman = swim,bicycle, run
Ironbutt = ride 1000miles in 24hours

The swim and bike segments are not that bad. It is the run that gets me. That is what is keeping me out of the full ironman. I can handle a 13.1 mile run, but running a marathon after swimming 2.4 miles and riding a bike for 112 miles is just more than I can handle. I can't even finish a marathon when I am fresh. Just not a runner.

Back on topic...

One of my neighbors is a marathon runner and coach. He coaches a Dallas group that's supposed to be pretty good. I can get you some info next time I see him.

That would be great  [thumbsup] Catie and I are looking for trainers right now. We checked out several, but haven't found what we are looking for. One looked pretty good, but required about 10 hours a week of fund raising  :-X :P ???
