So.... through the use of dark magic and other stuff, we got an electric (see modern) cluster onto MonsterGrrl's '95 carbed Monster 900. The lights all work perfectly, the speedo works perfectly, even the low fuel warning is there.
The tacho though..... It reads half. Has anybody ever figured these things out to fix the tacho?

What brand/type of tach is it? Does it get the signal from the spark plug wire or from the crank position/ignition module wire? I put an electronic guage on mine and there is a setting on there to get the RPM's right. It is odd that it is reading 1/2 because Monsters are wasted spark systems and, so they usually read double.
It's a modern electronic ducati cluster on a 95 Monster... Are you saying if I ran signal from both sparks it would read even? I was under the impression the modern Duc tacho go tit's info straight from the ecu. Something the 95 (carbed) lacks

Running a signal from both sparks wouldn't work because the spark plugs fire at the same time on both the compression and exhaust strokes.
I'm still confused as to why it would be reading half. The only time a tacho should read half is when you try to put a wasted spark tach on a single fire engine. I don't know if injected bikes are single or wasted spark ignition system. If they are wasted spark, then it should work, if they are single spark then you should get double the RPMs, not half. Technically, the tacho is reading 1/4 the signal coming from your bike.
One thing you can try though, is putting a single spark adaptor on it. These are designed for putting wasted spark tachos on single fire engines. They double the signal, which is what you need.
Now, I need someone to explain to me why the tach is only reading half ???
where do I get this adaptor?
