My 996 SPS ('01) has the oem upgrade eprom installed- but its not quite enough. Dilema is ... I don't know where to research and shop for an upgrade eprom. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Bike has 54mm Arrows, lightened flywheel.
Thanks in advance

FIM UM-222 single injector.
My 996 has one.
Edit....
this page should be helpful.

being an SPS i would use the fim um-232 chip it is a single injector chip but will make the bike run great.
It is designed with your cams in mind.
DP NEEDS to put in some cams and upgrade his chip as well. [moto]

no he doesn't
need to...
but it may happen ;D
Well, I don't remember where I bought my FIM Ulti Map chip, but it was night and day. I too had an '01, 996. Mine was a Mono.
I got to tell you, once I installed the chip I was amazed. No more back-firing and the Idle was sweet. I could not believe how much of a difference that little chip made...
I'll try to find the store.
Thx much for the input [thumbsup]
if it's an sps then it has the p8 ecu so none of the above mentioned eproms will work in it. ultimap # for 916/996sps is um171.
I only have one additional question.
Would a PowerCommander eliminate the need for a chip upgrade?

The FIM chip uses a single injector which improves the drivability.
The PC won't do that.
The FIM chip comes pre-mapped.
You'd need some dyno time to get a pc tuned.
I think it might be cheaper to go with the FIM chip...and IMO the results will be better.
