Despite the fact that really is truly and terribly ugly, it actually took me a while to browse over it. You can't really have the truly beautiful without comparisons to bikes like this, but I relish the thought in how much effort and design work he put into it. All the fairings are hand made for gods sake. Ahh well.....

I just threw up a little... [puke]
Great metal finishing skilz and not so sure on the overall design.
Not my particular cup of tea........
But very nice work - like some of the extreme choppers I see. I don't really like the style,
but people do some fantastic work on 'em

...a quip that's so overused these days that it's lost all impact and effectiveness.
My first thought... hm, looks like a movie prop.

Damnit, kid, stop touching the dishwasher your getting your finger prints all overit .....its sort of appliance like in looks but it put together with a lot of skill
I like the front setup [thumbsup]
I'm thinking...hmm how would I make that look better??
well round off the tank, add a big ass headlight....
wait...thats the regular monster.... [bang]
Looks cool.
Wow, i never expected that anyone would try to outdo Britten for "ugliest bike ever made by a man in his back yard".
It would be cool to check out in real life.
Probably interesting to ride, too.
But I wouldn't necessarily want to be seen on it. Or would that actually be good because of its uniqueness?
i'm so glad that owning a Ducati in my city is unique enough that i don't have to resort to that [moto]

Dude you need some serious lasik. The Britten V1000 is one of the most gorgeous motorcycles ever built by man.
Well, admittedly I think the engineer in me is what appreciates that bike the most, but seriously you forgot to take your crazy pills today right?
I actually read your title as "The S4 never should have been." i.e. ALL S4s are ugly ;D
Quite a few people agreed with that sentiment in 2001. As for me, love my S4 :) As for THAT S4 - Jesus wept. Some great work, great skills... not loving the finished bike though.
Looks pretty cool.
Why do people have to do this to ducati`s ???
Tough crowd. That front end must have taken a ton of engineering to put together (assuming it works). Yes, the body work looks like a futuristic kitchen appliance from the '80s but a little tweaking and it could look awesome.

having lived in NZ, and been co-owner of two motorcycle shops, i've had my share of seeing nd riding the Britten bike... it's different but not phenomenal and certainly ugly as hell. being different just for the sake of it is so passé. it's been BMW's job for eons, let's leave it them.
i prefer the lines of a 1098 or MV F4 any day. leave my emotional Italian design alone. [wine]

No need to apologize, i took it in good humour.
Yeah i rode the V1000, it shares that weird soaring feeling of a BMW.
