Hey everyone, while removing the cat I some how managed to strip the nut on the header pipe (don't ask me how). Aside from this being a total PITA do this nuts needs to be replaced with an OEM nut? They have a bronze looking color to them and I just want to make sure. Otherwise of to the hardware store it is to find a replacement that fits.
Thanks.
Not exactly sure if what's fitted to an Rs is different from other water-coolers, but I think the main feature is that they're a locking nut.
It'd be easier to replace that one with one stolen from the front header, and put the oddball there so it can be replaced later....
I've found "bronze-colored ones" strip easily wherever they're used (like holding the headlight ring in place). Recommend getting a stainless-steel replacement at your local hardware store...
Yeah, those things are like butter. I ordered a pair from my local Stealership, for $0.50 a pop. Now to get to the fun part...removing the nut.... [bang]

Hopefully it's on the front cylinder -- access in the rear is a PITA on the S4RS.
the front cylinder is easy, but i'd recommend jacking up the bike from the oil drain a bit will make it a little easier on the rear bolts. make sure you use like a soft block of wood between the oil pan and jack. and also using a gear wrench makes it so much faster
