Cross-plane crank shaft.
sounds very fast. Too bad the new headlights are fugly. [puke] [puke] [puke]
i dig the new headlights! must be a personal aesthetics thing... i think they look evil ;D
Damn that sounds really expensive. lol
People have been talking about altering the firing of the cylinders for years and picking apart the problems. Glad to see they cracked it.
I'd buy it just for the new 'safer' tail light. [thumbsup]
Technology is there. I am sure it will be a great bike.... but the looks.... not so good. prefer the previous generation.
Suposedly it feels like a twin down low and an inline four up high. Since the R1 now has such good torque feel there will be no reason to buy a Ducati. I'll wait to believe the hype.
I thought Traction Control and ABS was the bee's knees with all the big bikes this year. Strange to see Yama taking a different approach to go fast tech with their flagship "oh sh*t I'm coming in way to hot" cycle. Very cool, can't be long until the tech trickles down to the middleweights.
Damn, that's a lot of tricky bits!!!
Sounds like a really cool bike engine and feature wise...but jeebus it's FUGLY. [puke]
[No, I don't only think Ducs look nice...I LOVE the new CBR1000R looks]
Ahh, the way I like my women, fast and ugly.
Wait... no.
Not bad, can't wait to see one in person.
I still like my 1098 R better ! I mean 1198 R . Dolph
.58sec of the video
uneven firing interval sounds sick
cutting edge [thumbsup]
hmmmmmm [coffee]
ok, they built a "screamer" motor... what's the big deal? ;D
Arn't they claiming 190hp :o
Come on Boys and Girls unless you go to the track.... and thats probabaly a huge overkill why do you need that much Power ???

45HP is overkill for the street, so what?
My buddy's `04 R1 Dyno's around 180 w/ just a PC and exhaust.
I bet the `09 will put down 200+ w/ PC, exhaust, and intake.

So what... Motorcycle accidents are at a all time High.
But your right. Its up to the individual to not be a idiot. That being said I would like to give it a whirl
What do you think the HP will be in 10 Years for high end sports bikes?
blah

Considering a stock 04 R1 puts out about 145 stock and ~150+ with a pipe and PCIII, that must be some exhaust system he's got. Maybe his exhaust is spinning a turbo.
The 04 was the last good looking R1 though. The 09 is at least better looking than the 07-08 frog.
I love it, however using torque as the selling point seems to be less convincing since Rossi kept getting pulled by Stoner on the straight. :)
I dig the Firebolt headlights.
i'm more interested in seeing that engine design in the R6.
