I dunno the route we're taking but Goldenchild is mapping the route and it's suppose to be about 3 days of twisty no highway driving. I don't think we can hook up with you guys since your doing a straight shot, yes no? But lemme know if you guys plan on doing a twisty route, maybe you can coordinate with GC for a meet point. Project Mugello was put together by Vicki Smith, the grand poobah for the North American Ducati Owners' Clubs. It is basically a section of seating that is right near Ducati Island. Tickets, moto parking, and a parade lap around the circuit are included in the price of $125. I know that they were close to selling out a month or two ago, so time is running out. If you're a member of your local Ducati Owners' Club, you're eligible to purchase the tickets.
ah thanks, i already got my tickets in turn 1. i jumped the gun a bit as all of these cool packages came out after i had received my confirmation.
I'll be there in Section H. Still in the air if taking the bike or not.

there are so many hotels, Indy has the infrastructure to host large events [thumbsup]
i'm looking at one that's located SE of the track, halfway between the track and the downtown area...
also looking to the north of the track near the ducati dealer...
So i guess if you want to purchase race day only tickets, the only option is on race day? I have a bunch of buddies who can only make race day due to other commitments.

Yeah one of my hooligans is doing that charity ride as well. I won't I'll be busy anyway...
Here another update:
The red snake ride leaves from Indy Ducati at 0730 hrs. For those of you that bought project Mugello tickets, Ducati will be giving you a red grandstand Ducati t-shirt, and a cheap looking red Ducati Corse ball cap. The goal is to have a huge red area at the track with all the Ducatisti wearing a red shirt and hat.
The problem IS that the T-shirts given away are in sizes Italian L and XL. Which means they are on the small side. I wear an American L and the Italian XL I tried on was a tight fit on me. So if you wear anything bigger than an American L plan on bringing your own red t-shirt.
I got it in the mail yesterday, Oh yes <drool emoticon>

Ok, so a couple of us are making late-in-the-game plans to attend the race weekend, and need some pointers on where to camp, and maybe where to sit. I think we're going to sit in the Southwest Vista in order to overlook the chicane after T1. But we're clueless about where to camp, and what passes to buy.

2 Monsters
Our mountain rigs (probably)
Enough beer to significantly dull our senses of smell (hopefully)
Any tips?

Project Mugello tickets holders will be getting a grandstand package, given out Saturday night before the race at the DOC central hotel. The Package includes a red corse hat, and a large red Grandstand T-shirt. and a Ducati lanyard.
*WARNING* If you wear an American size L t-shirt the one provided by Ducati could be a thight fit. They run a bit smaller in Italy, and the packages contains a size "L" Italian. Plan on bringing your own red T-shirt if the fit is questionable.

PARKING INFORMATION
IMPORTANT:
Mugello Grandstand Ticket Holdersâ€"The motorcycle parking pass that came with your Mugello Grandstand ticket is not a Ducati Island Parking Pass.
Please note that a Ducati key is no longer proof of ownership, you must bring your current Ducati registration or insurance and picture ID.
Please carefully read through the information and guidelines below in order to guarantee proper use of your parking pass and a smooth trip to the track and the Island.
GENERAL INFORMATION & GUIDELINES:
Ducati Island parking passes will be a wristband attached to the helmet chin bar.
Only Ducatis can park on the Island and in the Ducati Island overflow parking.
You must have a parking band to park on the Island but a parking band does not necessarily guarantee you a spot on the Island. There are a limited number of parking spots available on the Island and in the overflow parking and they are given on a first-come, first-served basis with a valid parking pass. If Ducati Island parking is full you may park in the Ducati overflow lot. If the overflow lot is full you will be responsible for your own alternative parking arrangements.
You do not need additional parking passes to access the Island. All you need is a valid Ducati Island parking pass AND an event ticket to the Indianapolis GP.
HOW TO OBTAIN A DUCATI ISLAND PARKING PASS:
Parking passes will be distributed at Ducati Indianapolis at 4629 Northwestern Drive, Zionsville, IN from 4-7pm on Thursday, September 11 during their Open House. If all parking passes are not distributed on Thursday, the remainder will be available at the dealership from 8-10am on Friday, September 12.
Directions to Ducati Indianapolis: From Indianapolis Speedway, take I-465 North, take the exit toward I-465 East / US-52 East, keep right at the fork as you follow signs for I-465 East and merge onto I-465 East / US-52 East. After about 2 miles on I-465 East / US-52 East, take exit 27 for US-421 North / Michigan Road, turn left at North Michigan Road then turn left at Northwestern Drive. More information about Ducati Indianapolis can be found here.
A Ducati motorcycle key is no longer proof of ownership, you must bring your current Ducati registration or insurance and picture ID with you to obtain Ducati Island Parking passes and Ducati Island hospitality access.
One parking pass per owner.
The pass must be picked up in person.
Parking passes are valid for all three days of the race weekend.
Ducati Island parking passes are NOT for sale. They are available at no cost to those meeting the required criteria on a first-come, first-served basis.
ONSITE PARKING GUIDELINES:
Parking passes should be attached to the helmet chin strap prior to the arrival at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Your parking pass attached to your chin strap will allow officials to point you in the right direction and allow you access into the Island. To ease traffic flow, please make sure it's visible at all times while on access roads while entering the track.
Please look for Ducati Island volunteers to help direct you to Ducati parking.
If you arrive at Ducati Island and the Island is full or closed you should not try and park on the Island. If Island parking is closed or full we have arranged for a Ducati overflow parking area towards which you will be directed. If the Island is closed and you do park on the Island without direction, you may be blocking a fire/emergency lane and your bike will be removed.
If the overflow lot is full you will be responsible for your own alternative parking arrangements.
We cannot replace lost or stolen parking bands.
Ducati North America and Indianapolis Motor Speedway have the right to retract any parking passes issued for any reason.
Please do not contact Indianapolis Motor Speedway or Ducati Indianapolis for information.
It's critical that everyone work with Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Ducati North America staff and volunteers to make this process happen as smoothly as possible. We look forward to celebrating with you on Ducati Island!
If parking passes are not being give out until the open house at Duc Indy; do you know how parking is being handled for the pit walk that is occuring at the track before the open house????
I'm heading to the race - got tix for the whole family, and we're renting a 31' RV to live in for the weekend. We'll be in the RV spaces (Speedway parking lot #2), right across the street from Gate 5. [thumbsup]

Okay, question for Project Mugello ticket holders...
In the parking info on www.ducatiisland.com, the first thing said is "the motorcycle parking pass that came with your Mugello Grandstand ticket is not a Ducati Island Parking Pass."
Jobu and I just scored Mugello tickets on ebay, but there was no mention of parking passes in the auction listing.
Did you all get passes with your tickets? If so what do they look like, so I can look for them in the picture in the auction listing.
Thanks folks.

Mario can probably tell you, since he has the package.
Almost looks like, if there was parking, it would be a strip like all the other vouchers on the right.
I wouldn't worry about a parking pass, there are plenty of places to park at the speedway
the non-ducati island moto parking passes are 2 serialized wristbands, one for the bike, and one for your wrist.
Rameses,
Here is the info you need to get your Ducati Island parking passes.
Hope this helps. See you at the Duc Indy Open House.

We look forward to celebrating with you on Ducati Island!

the non-ducati island moto parking passes are 2 serialized wristbands, one for the bike, and one for your wrist.
Yeah, that's what I was looking for in the pics, but since I hadn't seen them in Grifo's pic that Cyrus quoted above, or any of the others I'd seen, I was wondering if there was some alternate form of pass that was included with the package.

Mario can probably tell you, since he has the package.
Almost looks like, if there was parking, it would be a strip like all the other vouchers on the right.
I wouldn't worry about a parking pass, there are plenty of places to park at the speedway
That's what I was thinking too, maybe a voucher to pick up the wristbands somewhere once you get there...
So you think there'll be moto parking close to the track available without a pre-purchased pass?

Rameses,
Here is the info you need to get your Ducati Island parking passes.
Hope this helps. See you at the Duc Indy Open House.
[moto]
Yeah, the first line of that was what I was quoting...
Problem is, I won't be able to make it up there until Friday night (possibly Friday morning), so I won't be at the open house to get Duc Island parking passes. If they still have some left Friday morning, and I can make it up there in time, that'd be great, but I just wanna make sure I have my bases covered for non-Duc Island parking in case that doesn't happen.

Somebody said it's the hotel immediately across the street from Duc Indy, right?
Okay Gang.
There is a DMF get together in the works for Sunday after the race at the Rathskeller in Indy at about 8. [beer]

Yeah man, there is motorcycle parking (free) inside the track.
go to the speedway's website and browse around about parking info. You have to get there early, though, as it fills up fast.
and yeah, that hotel is right across the street or close by the Duc Dealer, so I guess that would be 116th and Michigan
I'll be there on Saturday with my Dad and my two sons... we'll probably be on the mound in the infield in what's considered Turn Two of the Oval... sooooo, southeast. Tall guy, cute kids, lime-green FFA hat.
Sunday I'll be back with the guys, as well as my buddy Jason (Triumph rider, but other than that he's ok...) and his son.
Also, I'll probably be knocking around the Red Bull MX Xtreme on 62nd Street (aka Broadripple Ave) on Thursday night, some time after 9-ish. The bar I work at on weekends fronts on the strip, so I'll probably be gawking from the doorway while I mooch free beers from my co-workers.
Just some cross refs.

Broad Ripple Avenue & College Avenue (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=broad+ripple+ave+%26+college+ave+indianapolis+in&sll=39.868839,-86.146095&sspn=0.008333,0.013733&ie=UTF8&ll=39.87154,-86.146073&spn=0.016666,0.027466&t=h&z=15&iwloc=addr)
For those of you not familiar with Indy, the Broad Ripple Arts District is one of the City's premier dining and nightlife areas - there are probably forty bars and eateries within walking distance, including some of Indy's better locally-owned restaurants. Red Bull has arranged to have the City block off the main strip so they can put on three MX stunt shows in the evening.
The owner of the bar I work at - Mineshaft Saloon (http://www.mineshaftsaloon.ws/) - has informed me that he's providing the Red Bull promo team with storefront space to serve as their event headquarters. His understanding is that they will have one of the GP bikes on site, and may possibly be having a meet & greet with Nicky Hayden. Our other bar - Rock Lobster (http://www.rocklobster.ws/) - is supposed to be hosting the Red Bull VIP party, which is actually open to the public (kinda defeats the "VIP" premise...), and offering a pretty killer deal on Skyy Vodka & Red Bull.
For those of you riding in, monitored pay lots are available in a couple locations right off the strip - so someone can keep an eye on the bike while you're walking around. Broad Ripple is about ten or fifteen minutes from just about any of the major hotel areas (Downtown, Keystone at the Crossing, Castleton, 465 & Michigan).
Apologies for the extended commercial, but it's not very often that the City shuts down Broad Ripple Ave for a street festival or event. Every time they do it's a pretty big party, so I thought I'd share the FYI.
my favorite bar is Average Joes ;D
but then again, they are all owned by the sameguy
