Title: took some pics after painting some stuff on the bike :)
Post by: djomlas on September 14, 2008, 09:14:36 PM
since it was a crappy rainy weekend, i was in garage for a while
painted the belt covers, oil cooler, sprocket cover, painted the stock exhaust cans, put on double gold rimtape, and numerous bolts are gold now (engine cover bolts, gastank bolts, handlebar bolts, belt cover bolts and such...)
also, all that emissions CA stuff is off, as well as are all those zipties and such off of the frame, along with the side panels
here are some pics i took to show the progress...( i got a powdercoating machine a while ago, so i will have some stuff done soon)
thx to PO for the tank mod  [thumbsup]

any suggestions are welcomed of course :)

Nice job.  Black and gold are a classic combo.  BTW, where are your mirrors?

i put on some bar-end ones, but one broke off so as of now its no mirrors hehe

What kind of handlebars are those?

handlebars are from sunline.
and none of the parts have been powdercoated yet.  im planning on doing the swing arm, all the bracket, footpegs and all that comes with it, and all the parts that are holding forks that i can remove.

Gotta tell you,i really dig that simple things on a bike.I like the combo and the yellow lamps.i would put the rear cowl though,it looks very narrow in the back.I also ride without mirrors, much easier for me. [thumbsup]

thx man
i have a stock seat with cowl in the garage, but most of the time i ride i somehow end up with my GF so it would be weird with a cowl hehe
and yeah, mirrors just ruin the lines of the bike, especially these that you cant see out of anyways...

i have a stock seat with cowl in the garage

would it happen to be a matte black seat cowl? if so, it would be a shame for it to get no miles on it sitting in your garage......wanna sell it?

I like the stirped down look and color combo on your bike.  Not the biggest fan of the color gold but when you put it with black it just looks right.  [thumbsup]

I really want to paint my oil cooler.  What brand/type of paint did you use?

You need to turn the mirror mounts over. :-X

thx for the comments
the seat cowl is DP CF, well was but i sold it since i dont use it.
and as for the mirror mounts, well i gotta do somethign about, i got a pair of barend mirrors, but my handlebar diameter is too small (they fit in stock ones, but not these that i have, so ill have to figure something out)

as for the paint for the oil cooler, i got some high heat bbq paint as pointed out by some people on here....i got the semigloss mateblack, looks great, not flashy but not flat either

ooo, and i got a yellow bagster for it as well...not sure if it will stay on the bike or not yet

So did you spray the bolts gold? Looks really nice. Are you going to do a gold Duc logo on the tanks?

[thumbsup]

depending on if i like the bagster...
i have that awful dent in there...so if i do get it repainted, it will be white with gold sides and pinstripes dividing colors with the flying eagle logos on the side.
