Title: Returning Rider, First Ducati
Post by: Louv on September 14, 2008, 10:36:31 PM
Howdy ladies and gentlemen!

I've just taken delivery of my first Ducati: a red Monster 696.
I put 130 miles on it the first day, and 200 the 2nd.  I'm very happy.

I haven't been on a bike in over a decade, so I'm a little rusty.  But, as they say, it's just like riding a bike... only faster.

I've spent 40 or 50 days on race tracks over the past several years. (in a cage)  Laguna Seca, Sears Point/Infineon, Thunderhill, Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, and my favorite, the Nürburgring.

No Mods... yet.  (taking the stickers off doesn't really count)

A scenic shot to start:

;D  Very Nice! Good choice for jumping back on 2 wheels. Let us know how it goes. Nice coastal picture, where abouts? Keep us updated.

Thanks for the welcomes.

The photo was taken in Big Sur, about 30 or 40 miles south of Monterey, California.  Unfortunately, I have no way (yet) to carry my GPS-equipped camera gear, so I don't have an exact location!

Welcome Louv, congrats on the new ride, looking good! [thumbsup]

Glad to hear you are enjoying being back on 2 wheels.  What kind of cars were you driving on all those tracks? Sounds fun!

Make sure you check in with the MOB (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=19.0) and say hi, hope to meet you soon.

Oops, sorry, it is the local board for NorCal, where I think you're located.  MOB = Monsters Of the Bay area

Don't be jealous.  Come join us.  It's ok, we accept 2-wheelers into our krew too.

And i figured the MOB was that.  MOBA isn't as cool as being in a MOB?

Hmmm, if only I had more free time...got too many hobbies as it is.  Did have fun with an economy rental car (diesel A4) on the Autobahn on a business trip. 8)

Well, we are a bit rough around the edges. [cheeky]

I have no free time.
I have a day job (that pays for the toys and the bills).
A volunteer job (in a completely different industry, that requires certification from the state of CA.)
Track days in cars.
Yard work, and a house to maintain.
Cats to herd.
And on the side I take photos and write articles for a car club magazine.

so I understand.
but you only go around once in life... I think.
