Mine answers to "Molly" even my fiancée addresses her as "Molly" but when I spend to much time with her instead of my fiancée, then said fiancée refers to Molly as "the mistress."

the bike, the car, the truck, the lawnmower, the screwdriver, the house, the wife, the daughter, the boat.

wait.  that last one is wrong...the boat has a name and I allways call her by that name.  Pisces.

the rest are just things you acquire for fun or practicality.

As with Army tradition I have named every weapon they have ever given me. Many differnt weapons only one name.

With bikes though they are all differnt, my last bike was Samantha. Being a red S2R it reminded me of this red head girl what was full of fire.  my next bike a Red S4R, might have to keep the same name, she will tell me what it is when shes ready :D

Ohhh, so GUILTY you should lock me up....

first v-star: venus, my man flytrap
ninja zx-9: buttercup, after that powerpuff character.  that bike had a bad ass attitude like her, and was the same color, too!
big vulcan 1500: fiona, like the shrek character, pretty to look at day or night
TL1000R (yellow): bubbles, another powerpuff character.  very beautiful, but would kick your ass at any moment
Honda 599 or Hornet (yellow): just the hornet, what it should have been called here in the USA.  Best bike i've ever owned. :)
The Duc (blue w/white stripe): Napoleon, since it's got the napoleon complex - thinks it's the biggest baddest bike on the planet, at least in the twisties.
second v-star: deuce, since it's the second one i've owned

Handcuff me and lock me away, guilty as charged!  [leo] [leo]

Seems like it might be bad karma to name your bike.  You might be more likely to dump it.  Don't ask why.  It's just a feeling I have.

I haven't named the bike, at least not yet.  We are still getting to know each other.

When I was in  highschool I had this 87 Chrysler 5th Ave.  It was a boat.  It was Bright Gold, with Gold leather interior, and gold shag carpet and a "System".  We called it "Steady Pimpin' II: The Golden Nuget".    There was a Steady Pimpin' but she through a Cam Rod after 3 months...  Last time I named a vehicle.

The HD is dubbed 'Run Around Sue' btw...

I never named a bike or anything until I got the M1000SS.  I figure that because its a one-off, it should have a name.  Besides, Duck-Stew likes to name his creations and I think he came up with it.  So I guess I'm now a "namer."  I'll even probably end up giving my kids names.

It's not really official, but it's usually the duc or the monster.  I had to start refering to her (I don't have a name but she's DEFINITELY a her) as such due to the fact that when I talked about my "bike" people had to ask, "the big one or the Cannondale?".

It's funny that I came across this thread today.

I'm just about done with the mods on my bike now that I have the DP cams and ECU installed. I let my friend take it for a ride today and he was blown away by the additional power it gained with the cams/ecu. As he came back from the ride he pulled into my driveway shaking his head up and down vigorously with approval. Upon removing his helmet the first statement he made was "This thing will kick the shit out of my 748 now."

After a few minutes discussing how much he really liked the bike now he mentioned that now that it's just about done I should name her. I considered naming her last year and came up with "Mia" meaning "mine" in Italian.

So Mia it is I guess.  [moto]

Mine has always been like a high maintenance and difficult Italian woman.  One that you know is not good for you but the sex is
so awesome and hot that you just can't end it.  Once you've had her, instead of being satisfied, you need more and more and...

And she doesn't like the other bikes.  If I give them attention she demands her bling or Hp gaining modes just like a certain kind
of woman would want jewelry and stockings.   Hence her name "The Desmo B*tch

Just this morning I was in the shop and she said, "Cum ride me hard big boy, you know you want some, I'll make it feel so good!"   [bang] [bang]

When it is good, it is euphoric.

Some bikes deserve names and some don't -- none of my Honda's ever got a name.

- My MotoCreations Ducati-powered custom bike is "DesmoDevil" (and that became the model name later)
- Old db1 was "Le Egg"
- Custom Ducati single cylinder project was "BoomTube Flyer" -- ironically the name got transferred to my exhausts
- "Black Fog" was a customer bike -- came to me while building it as it fit the bike's personality (memorable as well)
- "Princess" -- MV Agusta F4 ORO
- "Lucifer's Hammer" (upcoming customer project)
- "HyperDevil" -- customer DesmoDevil but with SBK (Hyper bodywork) -- plus the owner was a bit hyper
- "Aerolithe" -- a 4-wheeled 30's era French teardrop inspired creation which is a ground up project for myself

I actually end up naming almost all of the parts I create for Ducati's as well.  Something relevant to them typically.

I got my bike salvage, it was my Mom's. Bonfy here on the board for those who know her. Needless to say she assigned it a male personality as she is wont to do. So I've rebuilt him from the ground up but the whole gender reassignment thing isn't my bag, so I have a rare male Monster. She called him the Dragon. So many of his parts have been replaced that to a degree it has changed his personality. So he needed a new moniker, something that reflected his past and embraced his current self as well. Marduk, is what he has become. It was the name of the mythical 1st dragon.
