Title: Brakes dragging after pad replacement
Post by: superjohn on September 18, 2008, 03:12:38 PM
OK. Here's a dumb question.

I replaced the front brake pads on my M620 and ever since I've had quite a lot of brake drag. I drained off some of the brake fluid (still in the safe range) but it's still dragging quite a bit. The Haynes manual just said I must have installed the pads incorrectly, but I followed all the instructions very carefully.

Is there an easy way to go about remedying the issue?
Do I need to pull the calipers back off and try and force the pistons back some?
Is there some "gotcha" that I may have overlooked that I need to double check?

Remove the pads, push the pistons back in carefully without cocking the piston.  If they move back in without excessive pressure all should be good.  If not, you probably have a caliper problem.  If the caliper feels good try re bedding the pads.
