Hi,
i have a 06 M620
and since some time (about 2 weeks)after i purchased this bike
i feel it's going slower than before
the previous owner said he just completed the full maintainence
therefore it shouldnt be some technical problem right?
i've put on like 800 miles in the past 1 and half months
it's going 55 mph at fourth gear with 5000 rpm.
and 70 at 5th gear at around 5000= rpm
as i could recall i didnt have to use the fifth gear to reach 70mph
i use the 4th with 5000+rpm and that's enough,
however, i feel it's going slower ,
could it be the engine oil? or
tire pressure?
thanks for all replies and the time
Well the most simple explanation is your perception has changed. Perception of speed vs actual speed vary wildly. Just a thought,
Onto the mechanical... If it is going slower my guesses are:
1. Clutch slippage
2. Brake drag
- Though in both those cases there would be other oddness you'd (in theory) notice as well
Oil shouldn't have any perceptible bearing on it, when it's warm.
Tire pressure.. probably not. You'd notice other off stuff, like it not wanting to turn in as easily before you got to a point where low pressure would have any notable impact on the speed - though you should always check your tire pressure.
Yeah, hopefully you are just getting used to the bike and it just feels slower. After all, its a 620 [cheeky]. I wouldnt think that MPH to RPM ratios won't normally change without sprocket mods.
Check and/or change the spark plugs
How many miles total?
Agree, perception has changed. That's why fast cars/bikes always get upgraded to faster ones, and faster ones, and......

It's a 620. How much faster than 140 mph does one need to go?
May I suggest, even though the previous owner claimed the service/Maint was done, I would still get it checked and given the once over, I have seen to many bikes sold with the claim the service was done, and then down the track it turns out nothing was done.
Whenever I buy a bike or car 2nd hand, I assume nothing was done and get it all checked and given the once over, new oils, filters and belts and adjustments (in this case valves) checked.
It might cost a little bit to have it done, but at least your happy in the knowledge that it's all up to spec.
