So I put in the paperwork to change jobs and there was a class date available for both October and November, but my unit (in the Army) dragged their feet getting it done, so those class dates filled up. I'm currently in South Korea and was originally scheduled to leave TOMORROW. Now, because of the inefficiency of those above me, I am scheduled for the April 09 class and am stuck in Korea for another six months. >:( [bang]
I was planning on picking up a new 696 as soon as I got back stateside, and now I get to spend my third Christmas in Korea... without a Monster. :'(
When do you think the 09 models will be coming out... maybe I'll get one of those.
sorry to here about the 6 more months. by the way the 09's are already out!
Screw the 696 (with respect ;D), get the 1100 version just announced!

Thanks for serving our country. The 696 was rolled out early as a 2009 model. It won't change, but now you can choose between the 696 and the 1100.

It's going to be winter anyway so you might as well spend it eating Popey's chicken in Ossan. [cheeky]
One thing I've learned after 14 years in the military: Never, ever assume that things will be handled accurately and on time. I always double and triple check things. I have saved my arse and others' so many times by checking up on issues months, weeks, ahead of schedule.
I think this is a good thing though as far as Monsters go. You would have been kicking yourself for getting a 696 once the 1100 hits the street. It has a SSS, more power, and just looks awesome compared to the 696. I think many people jumped on the 696 because it was new and different compared to the familiar Monster versions. I'm sure some people are having some buyer's remorse due to the fact that the 1100 will use a SSS, which makes it a little better evolution of the Monster.
IMO like the DSS better, more down and dirty bike that way, the SSS is too sexy for a monster.
