Title: Where is the best place to get tires for my 620?
Post by: sea bass on September 26, 2008, 08:19:32 PM
I think I need new tires.  where's the cheapest place to get them?  I think I need 120/60 ZR 17 Rear: 160/60 ZR 17.

Also what tires should I get?  I use it mainly to ride around the city

i would try a local shop that will give you an installed price, unless you can mount them yourself.
if you are looking for mileage over performance, check out the sport touring tires
or any tire made from a harder rubber compound

Get them from a local dealer, shop around. I have found buying online is not a big saver, as most shops will charge more for fitting and balancing if you did not buy the tires from them. Look at Michelin Pilot Road 2 - good tire life and excellent grip in dry and wet conditions.

Get them from supertireguy at Subterranean Cycles on Geary in SF.  The best price locally, really knowledgeable and good people.  They'll also routinely give advice, will let you watch them work on bikes and ask questions, and often give your bike a quick once over when they're mounting tires.
