THIS WEEK ! Thursday (TAX DAY 4/15) I leave from E. Dallas 9AM go out over Tawakoni - hit some curves for a while - Lunch at E. Texas Hamburgers in Mineola - back in Dallas by 3:00 PM before anyone knows you are missing! [thumbsup] I have to work in Addison at 4:00 so I must be back myself
It's about 250 Mi. with a third getting to/from playland through nice country, no highways required unless you need to blast back :P ! Midweek is sweet with not much happening between school bus times ! ;D

Holy shit! Someone else actually knows where this place is??? Cool. They have great hamburgers and O-rings!! My farm is about 30 minutes max from that intersection in Mineola. I take 80 out of Dallas, hang a left in Mineola, go north on 37 to Quitman, go east on 154 to 2869, then go north to 4596 which is a tiny farm to market road... maybe smaller. Anyway, good burgers for sure!! I need to go this week, probably Tuesday through Wednesday evening. But I could do the scooter tour damn near anytime! Have farm work to do this week but would love to do the burger tour sometime! I used to keep the GSXR1000 at the farm but will be taking the GSXR750 down there the next time I go so I could always meet you if things work that way!! How freaking cool is that??? Highway 80 is quicker but 276 over the lake is prettier and then there are some amazing curves near Alba that bring you in to Quitman - & Hiway 49 has some sweet twists. I'll be trucking to the farm this week since I have farm work to do and will probably pull the trailer to leave the Gixxer down there for future rides. Don't do that as much as I would like because I am usually too busy doing farm work to go for rides. I would be up for a weekday Mineola burger run next week for sure. This time of year is my favorite riding weather, especially if you catch the leaves falling... my dream ride is to do the northeast one day during the fall, Vermont, Connecticut... anywhere up there would be cool. Jeez Donald, I am going to the farm this evening after dinner to meet heating/ac guys tomorrow morning then coming straight home. My house took a lightning strike which toasted the phone, ac unit, 'frig (that was fun cleaning it out, it had been stewing in it's own juices for weeks... can you say mold? [puke]) and the water well system. What fun? :P Looks like it's going to rain all day today and tomorrow so I'll for sure be trucking it. Then I'm leaving town Thursday-Sunday. Maybe next week??

Ate at the E. TX Burger Co. today for lunch coming back from the farm. Man Mineola was hopping today! The restaurant was packed and the streets were buzzing with people going in and out of all the local antique stores. It looked like a busy, sunny Saturday afternoon. Not a boring old Tuesday. Don't normally stop in Mineola but you had me thinking about burgers! [thumbsup] [bacon]

Have a good one! Really enjoyed the drive down and back... too bad it was in my truck. This is my favorite time of year down there. Lots of leaves starting to fall on the road. Everything nice and green instead of the usual dead looking brown at summer's end due to lack of rain. It looks like spring it's so green. Hopefully we'll have a nice colorful fall in east TX. Had to write a painful $550 check to get the heat/ac unit back on line. Ouch. Could have been worse. Still working on getting the frig back in usable order. All that nasty melted ice, ice cream and other perishables made it's way into every nook and cranny and started a mold festival of biblical proportions! Ugh. There is not enough bleach in Wood County to make this right. Nuked it again with more disinfectant wipes but this time I disassembled more interior panels in the freezer and found more "goo" living there. I unplugged it and left the doors open. It either has to get better or not. Hopefully I can save the cost of a new frig and the hassle of swapping them out.

Boobies - I bet $5.00 that there is nothing wrong with that Guzzi other than TPS (throttle Position Sensor) &/or Throttle balance.
I had exactly the same symptoms on the boxer after a battery change - & the guys at Perry's in Ft Worth got it fixed in about 20 minutes while I waited and watched. Someone has probably fooled with the "sacred screw" on your throttle body and Joe Biden expletived it up !
PS: we can meet anywhere on the east side Chubby's is just cheap and convenient - hey that could be my motto! [laugh]

As far as the TPS setting goes, it is a known problem with Guzzis too. Setting it properly is an eleborate procedure that is "sticky'd" on a Guzzi V11 tech forum. I'm printing that out to take with me to Stuart's next week. I've got factory reprinted repair volumes (2!), plus three other printed sources of data that I'm sure can be used to sort the ^$%@$## thing out by someone who knows what they're looking at.
But I bet you're right Cyclone, it's going to be something really stupid because all of the "big" stuff has been gone through already...

8) We take 66 over Hubbard ( betcha never been on that bridge ) to 405 S in Rockwall to 276 East over Tawakoni. So there are some straight parts ( hey it's Texas after all ) and then the fun starts in Emory which is about 45 mi due east of our start.
My style is easy rights & harder lefts & why break a buck on straights just to slam on the brakes entering turns ( it ain't a race ). There are logical places like stop signs etc at road junctions so you can go faster than me if you wish and then wait a moment for directions at the stops. We can work out a few hand signs at Chubby's at breakfast. I'll try to bring a few copies of a map too.
Since the ride is happening tomorrow 4/15 - hence the Tax day reference!

One had horizontally opposed cylinders, another had a longitudanly-mounted v-twin (oops, sorry, "L-Twin" [laugh] ), and another had a transversely mounted v-twin. Very interesting way to get to the same outcome.

Awesome moment when the Guzzi blew the ignition fuse in the Quitman Exxon parking lot & I reach for the iPhone to search and say " gee not sure where the auto parts place is around here " & Dan points & says "there's one right there !!" It was 30 feet away !!! Lisa only bought TWO ( dozen ) !! [laugh]
Other awesome moment - running up on the guinea fowl on the county roads who were puffing up their wattles at us. You would have been proud Brian, because we came to a full on dead stop and checked those cluckers out - we all just KNEW it was a herd of Turkeys out to cluck us up !! ;D

So do we have four corners of the metroplex ride routes now? Starting on the northwest "side" we've got the Muenster Run; northeast is Swanny's Casino Run/muscrat's FM 455 loop; Cyclone's southeast mondo Mineola marathon; and calscrazy' southwest Hico Run.
