Here's the magic button.
It will go to a paypal page that says Ducati Monster Forum, DMF Beer Fund.
We have been overwhelmed by people asking where to donate to the site, so this is what has been set up.
Currently we are out of pocket less than $100, but costs will increase and some security of a prepaid setup rather than month to month payments out would be nice.
We'd also like to buy some swag to be able to give out (or sell to cover costs).
Some people may be paid for the expertise if ever needed.
A beer may be bought for an Admin or Mod.
Nobody is going on a cruise or retiring to a small tropical island.

Will we be able to designate where we want our money to go? Like "operating costs" or " capital for DMF store" or "beer for mods" etc?

no, but I think you got the priority list correctly ordered.
Oh, you've sooo earned it wt:
Sweet. Looking forward to when it gets set up.
I think that ya'll should not put out a recommended donation amount. I think we'll actually get more quicker that way (meaning more cool stuff for the DMFers quicker). :)

One of the best things about Texas
Callinectes sapidus is that it's so cheap compared to the same thing in Maryland. Crabs are essentially a by-product of shrimping along the Gulf coast, and for some reason there's less of a market for them.

I just gave $100. If beer fund comes up on my credit card statement my wife is going to kick my a@#. Hey, can I be a titanium member?
I thought the money I gave on the last board for membership was going towards helping the board, not into someone else's pocket- that is why I gave it in the first place. They announced the sale like 2 months later. Frustrating.

that is a difficult situation, for sure. on the one hand you have a valid frustration. but on the other hand, they couldn't have stopped taking memberships before the sale. AND, i don't think they expected TOB to go south quite as quick and hard as it did. i think they expected TOB to continue on course, making your contribution a valid one.
nobody here is out to take your money. these are donations, and are made based on our trust in the Flounders' good intentions. if you're not comfortable throwing something into the pot right now, don't stress it. hang out and keep posting and contributing to this board in a positive way.
Add $25 to the pot. Thanks for the great work.
Money well spent to have a VS free board.
I think the donation process is a good way to start to get the necessary infrastructure and support happening. But I do think there will come a time when we need to properly constitute this board as a proper community of interest and protect ourselves of ever being hijacked again. Please dont take any offense to that, I am casting any aspersions on the people involved in DML or this new wonderful site.
But if at the end of the day it costs approximately $x dollars to keep this wonderful resource up and running then why dont we establish a budget and get the necessary funds to keep it going. Sell foundation and titanium membership that comes with nothing more than a t-shirt or a pin and the good cheer that you have been invovled in something that is a genuine community of interest on the internet.
Count me in....

This is secretly the vodka/brisket fund for DIMBY, right? ;) Just want to make sure my donation is going to the right cause---no site maintenance or hungry orphans or world peace or anything useless like that. ;D

truth.
the DMF has been a place that imprinted into my young mind as a place where people were always respectful of each other. And when people were out of line, (including myself sometimes), people stepped up and spoke their feelings to try and sort it out. Werid to say if it wasnt 2022, but the DMF community helped me mature (just a bit!).
