I've heard it described that an economic slow down is when people you don't know are losing jobs. A recession is when someone you know losses their job. And a depression is when you lose your job.
So...what do you guys think about this depression? I just found out about it today at 3:30. That's what I get for giving them over five good years. I guess there is something better around the corner.
sorry to hear your news :(
what type of work do you do?
i hope there is something better around that corner :)
location?
Resort/Hospitality. Recreation/rental manager. Florida panhandle.
Have you considered Hawaii? I hear it's nice here, and there's a tourist or two around somewhere.
Sorry to hear of your layoff. I'm nursing one right now too. Good luck finding a new job. Keep your head up and look sooner than later. Each time I've changed jobs, I've ended up making more.
As for me, I'm in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. I sell food to grocery stores by managing sales brokers in the western U.S.
sorry to hear this.
good luck [thumbsup]

Sorry to hear about your layoff. I've been laid off twice. The first time was tough, the second time I was actually happy. I found a job almost immediately making more money.
Of course now (according to my dad) I'm a hippy weirdo yoga teacher making almost no money. But I love what I do and that's enough for today. Plus, I still get to [moto]
Hang in there. Everything happens for a reason. You'll be just fine.
In fact, you should go out an celebrate. Toast to New Opportunities!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I feel free actually. Now I can go after what i really want without the risk of losing my job. And hey, I've got two months to do it before the cash dries up. I'm just glad we didn't close on a house we were looking at! [beer] [beer] [beer] [beer]
