Anyone else get the shakes randomly? I just went for a 7 minute jaunt on the bike to pick up some lunch and now my right hand is shaking so bad I can barely eat. :( It's going away a bit now but it's still disconcerting. I've had them before but I've never been able to figure out what causes them. :-\
I do that when my blood sugar drops too low.
Is this the first time its happened? Feel anything else with it or just the tremor?
Yeah sounds like a low blood sugar to me too. I get that as well if I'm to busy to eat when I should, also you'll notice your thinking gets wierd too. I don't make good decisions. It's best to eat and give yourself a minute if you feel that coming on.
Are you under a lot of stress?
my left eye was doing some weird twitching a few years ago, it was from stress. As soon as I left that job it stopped, that day.
the hand shaking thing, yes. low blood sugar. typically it comes with feeling crazy and like i am about to pass out.
the eye twitch is the worst! when we are in full crunch mode in the office, the 1:00am eye twitch is a pregnant dog to work through when trying to write code.
Yeah, I hadn't eaten much and was really hungry when I got the shakes just now. I didn't feel much else. Difficulty focusing a bit but other than that the hand just shakes. Sometimes it'll shake w/o me realizing it and my friends will point it out to me.
I've gotten the eye twitch from stress too. Bugs the heck out of me and makes me want to just quit what I'm doing and go relax (which I usually do).

Definitely sounds like low blood sugar. If it continues even if you've eaten recently you should talk to a doc. Otherwise, just eat a little more regular. I keep crackers by my desk to snack on when I feel a crash coming on.
Thanks for the reassurance. My mom is really paranoid and always jumps to the wild worst case scenario. Last time she saw me get the shakes when we were eating she freaked and started going on about parkinsons. [roll]

hahhahahahahahahahaha that made my day.
back to OP. If it happens again in the next month, id see a doc. but i still woudlnt worry about it unless it happens again.
My eyes always twitch. both of them. probably around 2-3 times a week. maybe i have a tumor... ;D
In the original post, you mentioned you'd just gone for a short ride...
Riding (driving too, but especially riding) is NOT a good idea when your bg is low.
Down to around 70ish (probably about the point at which you start feeling shaky) you should be alright, but past that it gets extremely dangerous extremely quickly.
Just something to keep in mind.
take your hand out of your pants
problem solved
it's called detox.... ;D
talk to your doctor. there may be other things going on. be on the safe side so you can ride into the sunset. [moto]
I have a friend that says I shake like a smack junkie lookin for his next fix. It's annoying sometimes but it's always been there.
If this is something new and recurrs a few times for no reason. Other than those stated above, I would look for an MD too.
I always keep a Clif bar with me. If I ever start to feel that way, I just eat one of those and I've bought myself a couple hours.

Vision should improve as well!
My brothers and I all have the shakes. It's a neurological thing (apparently genetic for us). We just know we won't be brain surgeons. Never hurts to get it checked by the Dr. You might be hypoglycemic (sp?) and need to keep your blood sugar level up.

I've got that issue and have to keep food with me. Actually passed out a couple times in school when they wouldn't let me eat a snack. Bastards.
