If eating animals is murder... why are they so damn tasty?
I think you need to start an "Ask the Svoloch" thread... you know somewhere we can go to get the answers to life the universe and everything.

He is smart, I know I can't compete! Man, to think the founding fathers had it all wrong.......maybe we should be "fair" and dive into socialism. It's not like we've ever fought wars to keep from doing so. You are right, this is America, the land of the free, but that doesn't mean everything from healthcare to retirement. It's the land of the free, where you have the ability to work hard and and make smart decisions and have a good life. It's not the land of the free hand out (although it's definitely moving that way). It's the land of opportunity, where you can make your own decisions and become wealthy. You can choose to sell cars for a living, be in a union, work for government, etc... your "class level" whether upper, middle or lower is from the decisions that you made in life. There are people in this country who started with nothing, and are extremely wealthy, and there are people in this country who started life extremely wealthy, who have nothing now. It's all in the choices that we make...........but what sets us apart from other countries, and why people come to this great land of opportunity, is that we have the choice.
PS..... drill baby drill
oh, and the "gosh darns" and the "you betcha's" are extremely annoying........

I would agree with what you say entirely if it were not for the fact that it's been clear throughout our history and to this day that the playing field for "choices" is not the same for everyone, the rules are simply different. We cannot, with a straight face, claim that everyone has the same choices and opportunity given the same level of motivation for a particular goal; it's just not so.
;D Also we have have fought wars against Monarchs, Fascists, & Communists BUT Socialists ( & Communists in WW2 ) were our allies - oops !
I guess this is why politics is proscribed on the Forum - everyone has a right to get this wrong !! [laugh]

I know what a chipper is, but still don't get the quote
Near the end of the movie Fargo, some thugs are seen to be sticking a human into a big wood chipping machine. Great scene.
This is boring. Yawn!

Introducing the 2009 YZF-R1, the first ever production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology, first pioneered in MotoGP racing with the M1, puts each connecting rod 90° from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This all but eliminates undesirable inertial crankshaft torque, which allows the engine’s compression torque to build smoothly and provide a very linear power delivery out of the corners. It’s a feeling that’s simply unmatched, like having two engines in one: the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw, high-rpm power of an inline 4.
The R1 features Yamaha D-MODE (or drive mode) with rider-selectable throttle control maps to program YCC-T performance characteristics for riding conditions. The standard map is designed for optimum overall performance. The “A†mode lets the rider enjoy sportier engine response in the low- to mid-speed range, and the “B†mode offers response that is somewhat less sharp response for riding situations that require especially sensitive throttle operation.
The rear frame is now lightweight CF die-cast magnesium, contributing the optimum mass centralization. Suspension includes new SOQI front forks which use one of the tricks developed for our winning MotoGP bikes: independent damping. The left fork handles compression damping and the right side handles the rebound damping. And the rear shock adopts new bottom linkage for optimum suspension characteristics.
Completely new, the new model has a more serious, less busy look. The side fairing is smoother for a sleeker appearance. And, instead of the usual four bulb headlight design, the ’09 model now has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. This positions ram air ducts closer in for a more compact, smooth look. In addition, the rounded lenses are new and unique to the supersport industry.

I'm impressed. I could see myself one day buying an R1/R6 with this technology. I like the crankshaft/engine design (it's obviously worked well enough for Rossi [laugh] ) and I especially like the rider-selected throttle mapping. My main complaint with most modern Japanese bikes has been the overly busy styling and graphics; this bike looks more refined.
Wonder if I could get one in solid red or yellow - I'd hate to have a bike that didn't match my gear <wink>
You know, yes, I'm an old fart. But do you know how freaking awesome all the trickle down technology is for us on the street? That new R1 sounds fabulous. The amount of improvements in street (and dirt bike) technology from the late 60s and early 70s until now is awesome!!! You have no idea. I'm sure it's equal to the incredible improvement in hyperspace/wireless technology but to a lesser degree. I come from the stone axe tech era, it's like someone showed me how to start a fire. It's a shame if you can't appreciate the awesome, unbelievable advances that I have witnessed. Jeez, for you and me it just keeps getting better and better. I hope there is no end in sight.... until we run out of gas. :P Somehow electric Ducatis just wouldn't sound the same on decel. [moto]
Ooops, this is the politics, religion, etc thread... sorry.

OK, back to politics. Read it and weep. These guns will be worth more than a '74 750SS if certain people have their way. There, I said it. Please prove me wrong... but I doubt it. Just hope they don't come after our bikes like Senator Danforth did in the 80s. At least he came to his senses and realized he was being bullshited and controlled by lies from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Brian O'Neil. They were/are the anti-sportbike/motorcycle equal to Sarah Brady and Handgun Control.
