I don't know who WhiteCat is.  I was at AMS Alvarado yesterday and they showed me someone's recently crashed bike.  It was one of the sport classics (red) and the front end was  mashed really badly.  Said the rider was in a hospital with broken back.  ? same person but accident would have been no earlier than on Saturday.. The speedo was digital and final reading frozen at I think around 50mph.  Sounds bad. Godspeed to all downed riders!

Nope.  This just happened on the (still-in-progress) Munster ride.

For those interested, I got a little more information from CJ.

Marquez was awake and talking before being taken to the hospital.  No other vehicles were involved.  Mishap occurred in a corner.  Bike left road, rider left the bike.

That's about all I feel comfortable relaying - being a mixture of eye-witness from CJ, and second hand info.

Best wishes for Marquez!

If anyone gets any more news about White Cat, or his full name and room # please send it to me so Bonnie and I can send some get well stuff.  If anyone plans on making a trip to the hospital, clue me in.  I'd like to go give him some friendly support.

Same here all, if anyone is going up to visit please let me know. I was the next rider behind him, Charlie and there with Dan to roll him over. Watching him lying there brought back way too many memories of friends that I have rode with in the past that didn't make the recovery. My number is 817-703-5419 if anyone gets any info.

The trooper gave me his full name but I was so centered on giving him my contact info about his bike I have already forgotten it. Wasn't focusing enough at the time. I do remember the trooper telling me his middle name was Marquez, must be what he goes by. We'll have troubles at the hospital with HIPAA since, in return, he doesn't know all our names well enough to put us on a contact/info list. I am a little confused by the fact that he would not give the EMS techs any contact info even though he was awake and lucid. What's up with that? I know the hospital will get it out of him soon enough. I'm just worried he has a wife and kids wondering where he is. :P This is not a good situation at all.

Whitecat had no family pics in his wallet, took him a while to respond to anything, but his eyes responded to light and he moved his feet for us.  Can a person visit him if they give him a room and if he is okay with visitors?

Seems to me that if he worked at Parkland they would know something. Maybe they'll be in contact with JPS. I think though that if you just go down there and ask for him they might let you in if you tell them you were with him when he crashed. I may go down there tonight and see about that.

As long as he's not in ICU he can have visitors. He was responding better to the techs before he was choppered out than he was earlier with us. They told me we was communicating fine but gave them no contact info.

I saw him also give the EMTs a kind of shakey thumbs-up right before the helicopter landed.

Hope he is on the road to recovery very soon.

Thanks! Let us know if they can give you any info. Hopefully he's out of ER but if they keep him it could be a while before he's in a room and can see folks. Anyone out there have any info on him. I feel like a dumbass for not having the trooper write his full name on a piece of paper. Hopefully he'll call soon and give either Lisa or myself the details on his scooter. When he does and I'm here to take the call I will ask him for Marquez' full name and address. I would like to think he would give it to me. Lisa, could you do the same if you get his call? [thumbsup]

Out f#@king standing!!! Please, if someone can contact him, let him know that Lisa and I are contacts for his bike's whereabouts. Don't know where it is, since the DPS trooper has yet to call. But Lord knows, if he were to call the Bowie DPS station I bet they could give him the bike info. I have a trailer and two pick-ups and a Suburban and I am more than willing to help go get his bike. I can store it or take it where ever he wants. I believe the trooper was named Staton... I think. Older, late 50's white guy... ooh, that sounds like me! [laugh]

Thank goodness he's been released, that speaks volumes! Thank you westies for going over and checking. [thumbsup] I can't tell you how much it meant and how much help Swanny, Lisa, Patrick, Leo and Scott were to both Jennifer and I. Ya'll were a Godsend to us both. She was a freaking basket case at Baylor. We will never forget what you did for us. Ever.

For you new folks, please take note. These are the kind of people that are in this group. They are awesome. We don't even know this guy and we come out of the woodwork to check on him and his bike and gear. Rest easy. We would all do the same for you. And them some. This is the best group of riders I have ever met in my 43+ years of riding, that says a lot. Again, thank goodness he's been released. I'll sleep easier tonight. Good work westies!!! [thumbsup] Next beer is on me for being there!! [drink]

When the bikes condition is released, we should see what parts we have available to put him back on the road. I have a few stockers from the 695

Truely a miracle that you Marquez were able to be released today my friend. When we first got to you and you were still lying face down I thought you were not alive. Thankfully you were strong enough to take a beating like that and pull through. Please contact me when you get around to it and we'll talk. I'll PM you with my number or just look up the page of this post to see it. I'm just so glad you are going to be ok. You really gave us all a scare. Your bike was were certainly in good hands too with Brian and Lisa looking out for it. It really says a lot for these people we were riding with today.

Ok, sorry for the late post but my day started when I got home! Going down I-35 I got run off the road almost having to go onto the median by a very large red Dodge ram-it up your arse pickup who didn't bother to look before coming over on me!! Got home to a neighborhood girl (she practically lives with us like a second daughter) calling the cops on her mom. The kids brought home a stray kid from the church group and after entertaining them with a movie I had to take him 20 miles away, All this just as I was going to run down to the hospital. Glad to do it all though. Today has made me more appreciative of the life I have been blessed with.

First up, I can't agree more with you Brian about this group. After meeting up with you guys only twice I can see that you all have a genuine heart of passion for everyone and their well-being. From the first moment that Tommy came out to the curb @ Razoo's Thursday and helped me pull into a tight parking space and Bonnie helping me with my wardrobe malfunction right through today's incident  I can see that core value you all have. It all just speaks volumes about the integrity of you all. I consider it a great honor that you have allowed me to ride with you.

I can only believe that integrity partly comes from having the intellectual ability to recognize minor things like buying a motorcycle that stays glued to the pavement in the most adverse conditions!! Let's hope it's not by trial and error that brought you to the decision to buy a Duc.

I was born and raised here but I've traveled and lived all over the U.S. and always come home to FW. The people here are what make this prairie town worth living in. Good people are good people no matter where you come from or go. It's hard to find an better bunch than this group. Brian along with that beer you promised I'll certainly put up one of my prized BBQ briskets on the table too. I'm all about cooking good Texas food. So just name the date.

All in all again thanks to George, Bonnie, Tommy, Brian, Lisa and all the rest of you Westies/Easties for a really great day. I can't wait to ride again with you guys.

Wow, what an awesome reply. Thank you for your very generous and complimentary comments. We are who we are. It seems to have always been that way and why would we change? I am personally committed to this group because of what they did for me and Jennifer in our time of need. Forget about me, I was in the good hands of a brilliant neurosurgeon and hospital staff. There were some humerus moments when they volunteered to stand watch over me at night when I was doped up beyond belief. [laugh] What these folks did to help Jen ranks up there with Mother Theresa! You have no idea. Yes, an awesome, helpful group of people. Totally unrivaled.

If Marquez needs anything at all we will be there. Just post up brother and let us know you are OK at home and we will take care of your bike needs too. Just say the word when you are able to. [thumbsup]

Again, thanks Charles for the really nice comments about us all. That means a lot!

I am very glad to hear of the news.  All day he's been on my mind.  Wish him well on my behalf also.  I'm one of the newbies on the tangerine and black Monster.

As for the class of people today...............well there is no better in my opinion.  I've ridden with a multitude of DFW groups and none have been as cordial, accepting and mindful.  You guys made it perfectly clear that you ride to your abilities and I never felt pressed during the trip despite hitting 90 sometimes and still chasing dust.  ;D

I'm very glad to see that it's not just about the bikes but about the people and our shared passion of two wheels.  Definately a group of true comrades.

Great news about Whitecat.

I can not top Charlie's comments but I just want to add some of my own.  Since moving to Dallas 5 months ago I have seen how friendly people are here but today has just blown me away, I am totally impressed with the way so many of you reacted to today's mishap.  I feel I am extremely lucky to have found a group like this that not only share a passion of motorcycles but are also so welcoming, caring and helpful. You truly are an amazing group of people and I look forward to riding and sharing good times with you all again.

It has always been that way. I have never seen anything but that helpful, fun loving attitude. If you need anything this group will pour out it's heart. Again, just great folks. I just follow in their footsteps. Whether you need help moving, need a ride some where, need to transport your bike, need help working on your bike, etc. It just never ends. Why in God's name isn't the rest of the world we live in this way? I am proud to be a part of you folks. Always will be. [thumbsup]

You don't know what a relief it was when the admin at the hospital told us you were discharged already.  Everyone on the ride, and board were very concerned.  We wish you speedy recovery, and please don't hesitate to call on us for help.  As to all the other new to the forum guys, I know how you all feel.  Back in June when we first starting meeting with the group, they acted as if we were family (the family they like  [cheeky] ).  This is an amazing group of people who have a passion for all types of motorcycles, and and even greater passion for the people who ride them.  Best group ever.

Has anyone actually spoken with Whitecat?  How's he doing?  Does he need anything?  Is he with family?  Is he home alone with massive pain killers and massive swollen body parts?  I've been through this a few times myself, alone.  Even something as simple as someone making a Starbucks run can have near metaphysical implications in such a circumstance.

I wish I could do something from here in Phoenix to help, but if anyone does speak with him, be sure to tell him we are all thinking of him (and be sure to refer him to this thread).

We are still trying to find someone who can track him down. My latest thought is AMS. I am sure Scott, Jeff or Toni could give us his phone number under these circumstances. I am assuming of course that he bought his 848 through them. Bryant, you talked to him at the race watch party. Did he get his bike through AMS?

More well wished here... He did buy his bike from AMS, but of course they're closed today.
AMS might not give out his number, but maybe they could call.

Some of you might have met Marquez (pronounced Mar-kwez) at my birthday party a coupla Saturdays ago...

Ricardo Marquez Jones. Grand Prairie. No address, no records in Dallas County Appraisal District under Marquez or Ricardo. No phone number either.

Still no bike info. Called the Highway Patrol office in Bowie and they were kind enough to give me his name but did not know where the bike was stored. Trooper Slaton has the day off. Left message for him to call Lisa or myself.

Other than that my first ride was a great time because of the folks riding, not just all the awesome bikes.  I appreciate the lack of pressure to push my limits.  Thanks Lisa, Brian, Charlie, Bonnie, Tommy, George, et all (will get to remember more names as time goes).

well, I'm in Marquess's driveway getting ready to go back to work.  Unfortunately noone answered the door.  A neighbor a few houses down was outside so I asked if he knew marquess.  He only knew him by sight, not by name. I told him Marquessess was with us yesterday and had an accident.  Neighbor asked if it was in his car or on his bike.  Good news is that confirmed his address, so the address I posted before is good, incase anyone wants to mail a card or something.

Heal fast Whitecat, look forward to meeting you.

I think I have found a phone number for Marquess,

I have pm'd it to Tommy

The address matches so hopefully it is correct.

I have not called it as I did not get a chance to introduce myself yesterday.

Andy, Google scares you? Heck like Arizona said I'm just glad I don't owe you guys money! But hey we live in an info age it's been said. It's a good thing and sometimes can be bad. I see a splinter faction forming here...uh...Slueths M.C., INC.? You know you might make some reward money on the "Stolen Bikes" side of the Forum.

Tommy, dude YOU ROCK! I've heard of going above and beyond but dang man you are over the top a real go-to guy. Seriously! Your efforts this weekend deserve a reward all of it's own. I'm offering up a pool party complete with BBQ brisket for you and Marquez!!

As far as I could tell when we picked up the bike what I saw was this: missing left side mirror/turn signal, top half of fairing on left side a chunk taken out fairing probably needs replacing, kick stand gone, gear shifter gone, tail lights? don't know, right handle bar bent slightly. Bike was stearing kinda sideways as I was holding the handle bars. Don't remember any dents though. Now that Dan refreshed my memory I do remember the bike going end-o after hitting the berm near the fence. That would explain the handle bar but I don't remember what the right side of the bike looked like, didn't get a good view. Also various scratches on the left side will need paint. I remember smelling gas is why we picked it up so I don't know about the guts.

Really nice work Tommy and a big "way to go" for Andy with the phone number. [thumbsup] About all that was left that I could do would be to run a criminal background check on him. [laugh] Decided to pass on that, what good would it do. :P Just damn glad he's OK and someone actually talked to him. Thanks again Tommy and Andy! If you talk to him again please let him know there is plenty of help available for getting the bike. This group has a fleet of vehicles and trailers and enough tie downs to prevent the space shuttle from getting airborn!

He is very lucky, even more so that there was a nice big run off area outside of that high speed sweeper with no trees or paved/brick driveway entrances. I paid more attention to those things on the return run. The are about a thousand worse places on that ride to straighten out a turn out... he fortunately picked a "good one". [clap] Now I hope the bike isn't any worse than what we saw. Hopefully it will be just like him, beat up and bruised but with no broken bones or internal injuries.

Just to give everybody a heads up, I told him that he had a ton of DFWMers looking out for him and wishing him the best.  Told him that Brian and I both PM'd him about transporting his bike.  That we had trucks trailers tie downs etc...... all waiting to help out.  Pretty much begged him to call on all of us if he needs anything at all from transport to wrenching to spare parts.  He seemed confused and pleased all at the same time.......  I think he was unsure of what the hell happened, I don't think he remembered crashing.........

The brain does some crazy stuff when the body is about to suffer trauma.  Blacking out to impeding pain or stress is not an uncommon thing.  I'm sure he'll appreciate all the thoughts and concerns everybody has for him once he gets his bearing straight again.

I have a theroy that if someone is nice to you you need to be nice back. After that it gets contagious. I see so much violence in so many cultures and some people these days and it disturbs me that America has let down it's morals so much in that manner that it starts to affect daily life. Believe me when I say that what I saw yesterday in this group I could not get in my own family. Another saying is that 'birds of feather flock together'. I thought HD gangs were the only ones who rode in packs as big as the one Sunday! So I say that Ducs of feather thunder together! Dude, I'm just glad and honored that you let me ride at all.  [beer] Cheers!

I will be picking up WC at 3:30 to go get his bike in Bowie.  They close at 6:00.  Zach is helping too.  Maybe some peeps can help him out after he gets it home and let him know what's good/whats bad.........  He says he feels like his ribs are fractured and his left shoulder is out of socket.  Hey, if that's the worst that happens when you low side at 70-80 mph, then it's good news  [thumbsup]  We'll get the bike back to Grand Prairie and maybe in the next week he can get some info from our awesome members.

I'm with Scott. I would think an x-ray would have shown rib trouble. Haven broken and cracked ribs in the past (non scooter related) they all hurt like a SOB! My doctor said it will hurt like hell whether you bruised, cracked or broke them. Ask Ryan/ideapimp, he lowsided the Skunk after a DFW/DMF evening festivity and bruised some ribs up pretty good. He'll back me up on the "they feel like they are broken" thing. :P

The shoulder is anyone's guess. ??? I'm sure he feels like a pinata all over. Who wouldn't?

By the way, nice work Tommy and Zach for helping out on the bike pick up. [clap]  [beer]

WC's bike was not as bad as I expected. Every piece of plastic needs to be replaced, left side rear set. All of the hand controls are trashed. The good (or bad) news is the frame looked fine. I am going to go out on a limb and guess $4 to $5k in total damage.

The carbon air ducts on that bike are beautiful  [thumbsup]

OEM plastic is easily $4k.  From what Victor told me at AMS when that dog ran into him, the right side panel cost about $1500 alone.  The nose cone and tail pieces aren't cheap either.

I'm just thinking that by now, the bike's totaled, & Big Oil should spring for a new one [thumbsup]

If it is totaled, I know there are some carbon parts that could use a good home on my bike :)

But you can buy the whole plastic kit (-tail) from online vendors for 1200 is the kicker.  Sum of the parts is greater than the whole.

Get sharkskinz [thumbsup]

The side panels are $450. The nose is around $600. I do not remember what the new tail cost was, but think it was around $900. I passed on ordering the tail, but have a right side coming.

WC had not listed all of the carbon with his insurance. The 2 insurance companies are going to have a good fight with who fixes what.

I called the claims lady and she said they were going to fix my Montero at an estimate of 7800.00 and that the 848 is totaled and worth 11,000.00 and change.  I told them if they could find that bike for sale for that price I would buy it and give them 1000.00 for their trouble.  They totalled out the trailer and said it was worth 550.00.  I then told the lady to shove that quote up her ass...(in nicer words of course)  We will see.......

Someone please prove me wrong but I think the insurance company is going to screw everyone on this one. Especially Marquees on the bike. Again, I hope I am dead wrong... would love to be. But I have a feeling of dread that his insurance and the other insurance company will fight like dogs over who pays for what damage and when the damage actually occured. Besides, no one ever comes out ahead when their vehicle gets totaled whether it's a bike or car. Just make sure you get all the goodies off of it before the insurance company gets it, if they aren't torn up too.

Big steaming pile of BS on M and T it looks like.  What did M pay for his 848, without the mods?

Lawyer time?
Also, your insurance company(s) should go to bat for you- that's their job [thumbsup]

When my bike was totalled they did a market survey on value because the "book" value was too low. I was pretty happy with the settlement, considering. Tell them the bike is too new and fairly rare to go by book value.
