I went to a British & European motorcycle show/swapmeet in Leesburg, VA today. One of the more interesting bikes I saw was a 1983 Benelli Sei 900. I knew about the Benelli Sei, but thought they only made a 750 until about 1978. Evidently they made the Sei until 1988 according to a guy standing near the bike. This is what it looked like (Not the actual one I saw). I love seeing bikes I didn't know about.

Take a listen to this Sei 900 on YouTube. It sounds awesome.

Wow, that does sound nice. [thumbsup]
Thanks for putting that up, nice to see and hear a bike I didn't know about.
Oh, and by the way. I do the same thing riding through tunnels and next to walls... Downshift and let the Termi's sing! [moto]
Wow, cool stuff. I actually worked for a dealership back in the '80s that carried Benelli. I remember the Sei very well. The Sei was a very nice copy of the Honda fours from the '70s with an extra couple of cylinders tacked on. There were actually some engine parts that would interchange! If you do some more web hunting you'll find that Benelli not only made the Sei in 750 and 900cc but made a cool range of fours including a 250 four-cylinder beastie that was semi-popular in Europe. We never get the really neat stuff over here!
GOD that sounds fantastic.......!!!

The link didn't work for me so I search for it. Sounds fantastic. Also a million other Youtube videos of custom cbx's - F1 sounds - cool.

Here is one I saw in Italia. It is quite impressive in person

Wow, totally cool. Sounds like an F1 car or something. That would be a blast. A friends dad I used to know had a CBX, but come to think of it I never actually heard it running.
Thanks for posting that!
A guy in the local italian club has got one. Its sounds unreal, unlike any other bike due to its 6 cylinders.
I thought it was some sort of exotic sports car when I heard it before looking up to see what it was.
It sounds like it wants to eat someone.

all italian bikes do.
I went to Deals Gap in Sep where I saw a Cafe'd CBX. Since then I have been crazy for one...thanks for adding another bike to the list that my wife thinks I love more than her.

Damn - that cbx is excellent. Cafe - That is what it's all about . . .
I want that bike (the CBX).
I dunno what it is about I-6's. I had 2 BWM e30's so I love the inline 6's.
Inline 6 nearly perfectly balanced

Inline 6 perfectly balanced
Half perfectly balanced. The smallest engine you can have that is perfectly balanced is twelve cylinders. The six comes close as it is essentially one half of a twelve cylinder.

Blah de blah blah [cheeky]
Yes a six is *almost* as good, it's still no twelve.
I still prefer an 8.

The Sei came first but was never as acclaimed as the CBX. Had quite a bit less power, even in 900 form.
But that really doesn't matter, because they are hot, Italian and sound like an old Lamborghini V12.

Just by looking at the Sei and CBX I would assume the Sei was a lot lighter and a better handler. It was probably about 30 to 50% more expensive than the CBX though, just a guess.
Seems like it would be a real pregnant dog to work on -- six carbs!! ouch!
1047 CC though. Much bigger than the Benelli.

Here's a CBX with a slight transfusion of Italian blood in it! [thumbsup]
