Title: Piece of crap starter switch and the hollow bolt that sucks even worse
Post by: eesnas on October 09, 2008, 11:45:47 AM
So a few months ago after my accident I discovered the bike was only starting in neutral... After posting I was told the switch was either broken or knocked out of place. I moved the switch and it worked for a few days until it seemed to creep back to being out of alignement. I also installed new levers and it seemed to sart in gear just fine for a few days at least. Then it stopped working right and I was forced to start in neutral, I lived with it for a while but it tends to really piss me off.

Today I took the bolt off and tried to move it again, now it seems the make the beast with two backsing piece of shit switch is broken, and even worse the make the beast with two backsing hollow bolt on the bottom of the clutch lever is all bent now. I mean what kind of idiot designed this shit? A make the beast with two backsing hollow bolt?? I have not owned any other bike so I am not sure if this is common but I think the bolt on the bottom of the lever just SUCKS and now I need to try to precisely bend it back to it's original form and hope that I do not overtighten it again. Problem is this hollow bolt is what holds the switch in place so I can start the bike in gear, ideally I would just disable this switch entirely so I can start the bike in gear regardless of the switch making contact. Any suggestions for a very frustrated and overworked fellow rider? I just feel like I don't have a ton of time to dick around with this damn thing, really pisses me off when stupid little shit like this breaks.

If you cut the switch out, solder/connect the two wires together, it will be a constant open circuit, and you could start your bike in gear (after you do it a few times and scare yourself half ot death casue the bike is dragging you across the street againt your will, you'll quickly rememeber to hold the clutch in, dont ask me how i know).

as for that bolt. ehh. thats the way it is.
Locktite the bolt, it will prevent it form moving around.
