Title: 696 check engine light.
Post by: be350ka on October 14, 2008, 05:53:26 PM
Before I took my bike in for the 600 mile check I experienced a "flash" of the check engine light. When I got home I turned the bike off followed by turning the key on to enter the ERROR page. Nothing appeared. I called the shop to see what I should do and they said that they would look at it when I brought it in in a few days.

Well, in the last two weeks it has happened another 2 times. The first time the techs told me that there was a soft code for the Lambda sensor, but nothing hard. The second time it happened I talked to another tech and he didn't seem to excided about it and said if its not staying on keep an eye on it.

Tonight, after lubing the chain, I went for a quick ride and the check engine light came on for about 2 or 3 seconds and then went off with no change in engine power or any other indication of an issue.

So, has anyone else been having this problem? I am going to call the shop in the morning. What should my next step be? I can only assume that these repeat "flashes" are the same as the first. The bike now has 1300 miles.

check the wiring on the vertical cylinder O2 sensor. mine has developed a small scar where it was supposed to clip onto tht ebottom of the fuel tank to keep it off the exhaust pipe. I tied it up away from both to avoid any rubbing and any more damage.
