This is the LAST time I'm coming to Taos without a motorcycle!

you think those roads are great, go through the San Juan Forest and into Purgatory, CO, through Silver Springs and Durango. The million dollar highway is AWSOME! Was there last year for the 4 corners rally. Maybe a group trip next Spring is in order????

Have you tried putting the top down on the VW and making Akropovic buzzing sounds with your mouth as you take corners on two wheels ?
+ 1 for a Colorado 4 Corners tour !!!!

I was talking about this exact trip with Tommy and Bonwilder a few weeks ago. We always stay in Ouray to do the passes. We are planning a trip out there for 2009. Would love to make it a group trip [thumbsup]

Is that near Limbo? [evil]
My Dad used to have a home in Pagosa Springs just 60 miles straight east from Durango. Used to trailer my bike up to Santa Fe, NM and goof around there for a few days then pull it up to Pagosa. Would go on some awesome day rides ending back up in Pagosa. Blew off the return run one day and stayed the night in Telluride. Just f#@king awesome! Except for all the damn RVs and mini vans full of kids clogging the roads. But hey, it was summer vacation time. What do you expect?
Damn, gotta make this one! Sounds like Sport Touring (ST4s) in the first magnaturd! uh, i already have the bags too! I'm ready!

the passes we rode were in excess of 9,000 feet. we'd leave in short-sleeved shirts and end up bundled because the variance in temperature was about 30 degrees. oh, it hailed and snowed on us to. NOT FUN to ride in that shit.

Not on motorcycles, but I have had the same thing happen. It was 75 when we left Telluride, and 30 with a 50 mph wind on Imogene [bang]

:o Wow 13,114 feet - not a great place for carburettors, track tires, or heavy smokers !!!
Bryant, Will, & Keith could probably do their Lord of the Dance routine up their because they are super cyclists - I might get winded just twisting the throttle !! Looks like quite a trip Muskrat - lets do it !!! Call it the " LSD - ya can't go higher tour !! "
Does Gerbing make a heated codpiece ????
Possible Synergy group buy in the works.
;D That would be sweet !! - Good to know there is an outfit that loves us in the area & I am at Liberty to Moto over there in the next few days & get some final HC gear !!! Thanks mucho for your efforts for the group Kevin !! [bacon] [bacon]

Slag, have you ever done the Black Bear Road out of Telluride? This looks like the same terrain. I'm thinking it's Ophir Pass that Black Bear crosses though. Seeing the Mog up there though just gives chills. I've loved those vehicles for so long!
that's a cool looking xterra
Sure have! We did Black Bear, Imogene, Engineer, Mineral Creek,Poughkeepsie, and quite a few others. I'll post some more pics up...

We should get the dates for the Colorado crew's annual Ouray bash next year, and crash it... er I don't like that word. Let's say rent some rooms at their hot springs resort and show up unannounced.
Maybe we could even kidnap Toasty if he shows up. [evil]
This is in the first few miles of Mineral Creek, just off of Million Dollar hwy.

Dropping down into Telluride on Imogene. This was TIGHT!! Much worse for me than Black Bear.

Taking Ophir (I believe) out of Telluride to get back to Ouray

Sounds like a great idea ;D We usually stay at the KOA cabins a few miles down. They have the best parking for our rigs, and it is nice having a campfire in the mountains.
Slag,
Those are awsome pix. I gotta get one of those white MB adventure truck thingies. What's it called?
OMG!! Slag those pics are sick I want to go do that so bad. I have a '82 Jeep Waggy that I need to set up right but haven't had the cash to bother with it to do just this type of trip. My bro has a '06 Rubicon he gets out with. I will try with all my power to get Andi to come on this trip with me. Anybody think kids should stay home or go?
Sunday Aprilia riding roommate Tim and I rode up to Jerome, AZ. Some nice twisties, but too much traffic, and waaayyy too many designer bikers with ugly choppers, doo-wrags, and assless chaps.
We let out of Phoenix at 6am and it felt like 40 degrees. After riding about an hour we pulled over for coffee. Tim had an electric vest (and a fairing) and he was complaining more than I was about the cold.
Hour and a half later back on the road.
By the time we pulled into Jerome (elevation about 5000 feet) the weather was glorious! Perfect skies and perfect temperature for riding in full gear.
Took some pix of the beautiful ladies there, but they're not developed. That's okay, we're going back next week. (Apologies to Groucho Marx!)
Actually, didn't take pix, but will be returning with my digital SLR soon.

I have been known to use a little sarcasm at times. The Cop Rod is here I have had it for about a week [leo] It needs a little work but it runs great, and looks great so [beer]
