Title: 4V (Desmoquattro) valve cover gaskets...
Post by: DucHead on October 16, 2008, 10:23:56 AM
...are metal with a plastic coating, and they have a recess in the center of the gasket.  Does the recess face the engine or the cover?

Doesn't matter which way you put 'em in.

Thanks!!

I re-used the old ones since they looked fine, but I have a leak.   From which valve cover you ask?  Well, the one most difficult to access, of course!!   :P

I reuse the gaskets with no issues. Cleanliness is important. One little chunk of crud will make it not seat. I take the extra step and very lightly coat the gasket with grey rtv.

at 3 bucks and change it always make sense to buy new ones for the exhaust sides and then i move the new ones I bought last year to the intake side and toss those old ones.

My system is awesome  [clap] [clap] and everyone should use it.
