Title: Do you have a Ducati personality?
Post by: triangleforge on October 17, 2008, 03:00:14 PM
This online quiz is getting a lot of banter on the ST-Owners listserve I read, with apparent bragging rights to those who conform with the quiz designer's idea of a Duc rider:

http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/the-motorcycle-personality-test (http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/the-motorcycle-personality-test)

Me, it picked a BMW R1200GS, which would be about eighth or ninth on my list of "want" bikes (behind the F800GS, actually), but still ...

Thought it seemed familiar enough that I did a bunch of searches to make sure it wasn't here already. For me, it must have been the minus 1 score for pomp that steered me away from bikes that really should be washed regularly. Though I'm guilty as charged on that one...

Aprilia RSV Mille.  Not bad.  I scored 7 moxie, 1 zeal, and 8 pomp!  "The Mille's power scares the crap out of you at times, and you mostly bought it because you wanted something more unusual than a Ducati."  Interesting, but I'll stick with my M696, thank you.

Gave me the 883 Sporster too...even though I checked "hate Harleys".

I don't really hate them but that was the closest choice.

I actually rode my Brother's 883 Sportster and liked it a lot!

But, I want the acceleration and handling of the Ducks more than anything the Sporster has to offer.

Evidently I live for the perfect road, and plan vacations around riding.  I need a bike that can handle my addiction to the twisties as well as comfortably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains.  I scored an FJR.

Title: Re: Do you have a Ducati personality?
Post by: Monstermash on October 17, 2008, 08:38:59 PM
That was pretty freakin' cool.

Here are my results:

Ducati ST4s
You scored 4 moxie, 10 zeal, and 10 pomp!

You love riding, simply for the sake of riding. On the way to work, you sometimes find yourself taking the long way. The 50-miles-of-back-roads long way. Your mastery came about as a side effect from your love of the sport, although to be honest, you originally got into it because you thought a motorcycle would make you look cool.
You need a bike that can handle your addiction to the twisties as well as reasonably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains. Because you are a bit image-conscious and have a touch of ego, your bike is a Ducati. A practical Ducati, but a Ducati nonetheless.

Compared to other takers
•   42/100 You scored 4 on moxie, higher than 42% of your peers.
•   82/100 You scored 10 on zeal, higher than 82% of your peers.
•   96/100 You scored 10 on pomp, higher than 96% of your peers.

So what exactly do these results mean?

As far as which bike I sould be riding they were close. At least it was a Ducati.

Ducati 996 with the HOT CHICK! Yeah baby! The Foggy is on EBay as we speak.
Wait, can't I get a 999 instead?

(just kidding about EBay)

"You exhibit an over exuberance in all respects that cannot be satisfied. Your attitude and ego are over the top, yet you actually have the skills to match. Its infuriating. People would hate you, but you're too damned nice. You always ride like its your last day to live, and leave bystanders vaguely aroused.

Your bike is the Ducati 996. Sex on wheels. "

ST4S, "You scored 5 moxie, 7 zeal, and 6 pomp!"

Eh, I don't really desire a touring bike, but I really like the idea behind the result.  I guess a 998 with some easier clip-ons and a tail bag is a little too specific a result to ask for, but the ST4S is about as close as you're going to get!

Ducati Monster  ;D

You're a bit of a snob, but otherwise well-adjusted.
Your bike is the Ducati Monster. Sexy. Powerful. Agile. Italian style in a badass matte black.

Of all the test takers, you are most likely to have been hoping for your result to indicate that your bike is a Harley. No, Said no to a Harley It isn't. Sorry. You show the potential to become a superior rider, and you need a bike that encourages and rewards your learning. The Harley will just hold you back, and you'll have nagging feelings that something is wrong.

The Suzuki SV series is also a good bet, but it wouldn't appeal to you. Far too Common.
You scored 3 moxie, 3 zeal, and 6 pomp!

It appears that to score a Monster, you have to want to look good, but not ride much.

I scored an R1: 7 moxie, 14 zeal, and 3 pomp.  Not on my list anywhere.  I'd love a track-bike, but I wouldn't start with an R1.

Made my girlfriend take the test. She really isn't interested in having her own bike - she'd rather ride 2 up on a cruiser.

The test told her she should get a Monster...   [thumbsup]

 [bang] freaking Harley!

good thing the test redeemed itself by putting the Monster as an alternative for me.

It actually gave me a Monster, but said that I secretly wanted a Harley and but didn't want to admit it.  The test said that I would consider a SV 650, but not enjoy it because it is common.

Yamaha FJR1300 (never even heard of it.....)

I guess thats kind of like my bike.....a tricked out 900 monster with a custom flame paint job on the tank/cowls.

Not.  [roll]

I never realized I was as boring as this test says I am.  :P

I scored a negative 1 for moxie   :o   , only a 1 for zeal and a 5 for pomp.

...and it wants me to buy an 883 Sportster!    [puke]   Not gonna happen!

Oh well.  After I read right to the bottom it gave me the Monster or an SV650 as alternatives.  The bike I own and a bike I considered.   [moto]

QuoteWhile the Sportster is a reasonable compromise, you may discover that you enjoy the added feedback provided by standard-style bikes such as the Suzuki SV or the Ducati Monster.

You're addicted to speed, but have the knowledge and experience to match. Although you like to win, you don't really care so much about competing with others as much as competing with yourself.
Your bike is the Yamaha YZF R1. Given how easily the rear wheel on this beast spins up coming out of turns, it is fortunate that you constantly work to improve your skills. (I've seen more R1s crash at track days than any other bike.)

It was a close decision with the Suzuki GSXR1000, but your personality seemed a bit more R1-ish. (But hey, I could be wrong. Its only a silly test.)

I feel a episode of squidly comin' on.....  ;)

Not sure how it happened, but:
You're a bit of a snob, but otherwise well-adjusted.
Your bike is the Ducati Monster. Sexy. Powerful. Agile. Italian style in a badass matte black.

Of all the test takers, you are most likely to have been hoping for your result to indicate that your bike is a Harley. It isn't. Sorry. You show the potential to become a superior rider, and you need a bike that encourages and rewards your learning. The Harley will just hold you back, and you'll have nagging feelings that something is wrong.

The Suzuki SV series is also a good bet, but it wouldn't appeal to you. Far too Common.

It knows me well, love the Monster.

Your result for The Motorcycle Personality Test ...

Ducati 996
You scored 7 moxie, 12 zeal, and 6 pomp!

You exhibit an overexuberance in all respects that cannot be satisfied. Your attitude and ego are over the top, yet you actually have the skills to match. Its infuriating. People would hate you, but you're too damned nice. You always ride like its your last day to live, and leave bystanders vaguely aroused.
Your bike is the Ducati 996. Sex on wheels.

53/100 You scored 5 on moxie, higher than 53% of your peers. 20/100 You scored 1 on zeal, higher than 20% of your peers. 60/100 You scored 4 on pomp, higher than 60% of your peers.

Harley 883 Sportster

While the Sportster is a reasonable compromise, you may discover that you enjoy the added feedback provided by standard-style bikes such as the Suzuki SV or the Ducati Monster. (If you must hang with the Harley crowd, they'll be less likely to give you grief if you choose the Buell, though.)

There is a mention of a monster [thumbsup]

I don't see myself on a hd

Just took the test, I was hoping to get any bike but a Ducati as I'm looking at moving to a BMW or HD. I'm looking for any excuse to do so. But to my surprise the result was that I should ride a Ducati Monster flat black, the result is bang on except that I ride a 2008 S4RS Tricolore. Every time I think I should move away from Ducati, something or someone pull me back in, tomorrow I have a test ride on a 2008 GS 1200, up to a few minutes ago I thought I was going through with the trade. One more sleepless night going over the pros and cons of owning a fast Ducati. [bang]

Yeah, I gotta  Sportster too. I like Harley's but I'm still kinda embarrassed I got it.

That's alright.  It said I should ride a 600cc Japanese bike.  That I'm a squid and I ride in sandles, ball cap, and T-shirt blowing half way up my back.  That I'm going to wad my bike, and riding is only temporary for me.

Not me at all.
