I would much appreciate any tips from you guys on what to pay attention when buying a used Ducati Monster. In my case, a used M695 with not to many miles on it.
It seems all ads I’ve (ever) seen are about just perfect bikes that hardly left the garage, never ridden violently, like-new condition, absolutely never dropped etc…
And I usually believe what seller claims, but need to have some reservations about it.
Of course, the best proof is to ride it, but not being able to that personally what would you say is important to ask and check on the bike (besides obvious condition, mileage, treatment) at least visually or through other persons?
Cheers.
This topic has been covered many times in the past, and I suggest that you do a search for it.
In the meantime,
Red key: A necessity.
Belts: Need to be changed every 2 years.
Tires: Tell a lot about how the bike was ridden, ie. flat spots, flat centers, scuffed sidewalls, etc. all give an indication of what type of riding was done.
Good luck,
Jeff

I think it would be a good forum info nugget to expand on this.
flat spots - sat in a garage for long periods of time?
flat centers - lots of slab riding / highway miles (woohoo, got one! :) )
scuffed sidewalls - abusive habits? no clue...
