Title: new s2r owner (thanks to the wife)
Post by: yotogi on October 19, 2008, 09:21:46 AM
So I have been breaking the rules. I didn't post here before posting in other parts of the forum. At the time, I felt that I needed to contribute to some threads even though I didn't (yet) own a Duc.

So this week was our third anniversary. While returning from doing some shopping with the wife for a new leather purse for her, I say that I want to stop by MotoAustin to continue to pine after a Ducati. Well, long story short, my wife drives a hard bargain and a few hours later I am riding home on a 2006 S2R 1000 with a grin from my left ear to my right.

So now, here I post what should have been the first according to the rules. Of course, I never have been one to follow all the rules.

I wanted to thank all of the members of this community for the wealth of information that I had the chance to go over and use to inform my purchase. Of course, I should also curse you all of encouraging the infection that led to my purchase, but then I would also be forced to thank you for encouraging the infection. Pictures and all that to come later. This is our anniversary weekend so all attention to the wife. The bike will be there Monday morning to be ridden to work.

As a side note, this morning, my wife mentions that she might be interested in taking the MSF course. I suspect the beauty of the bike sitting out in the garage this morning might be starting to get her too.

The Ron [evil] is that you? Have your soul taken possession of another body?

Give a newb a break and provide some kind of explanation?

There is (was? Anyone seen him lately?) a guy whose screen name was The Ron and he always signed his posts-

The Ron  [evil]

Aside from relentlessly bashing the 696 I don't really know what else he was known for.  ???

Ah, that would not be me. I was considering the 696 until they announced the 1100 and did the maths and it wasn't going to be in the cards for a while. I am more than glad that I went with the S2R though. Dry clutch, SSS, full trellis, pure monster. I still really like the "new look" but I love them all so...

Sorry, I didn't think.

He started out on the wrong foot on the old board and received a hell of a bashing. I defended him and we exchanged emails on friendly terms. He felt within his right to bash the 696 and that pissed off some people. Continuously threadjacking was another accusation. When told by the moderators to behave, he wasn't compliant. He was temporarily banned a few times - and then permanently.

It was your reference to "breaking the rules" that made me think about "the ron [evil]" I'm sorry I didn't include an explanation.

Welcome and enjoy [thumbsup]
