Just a quick intro - I met some of you yesterday at the AMS Ducati track day at MSR Cresson (I was paddocked next to Bill). I'm a new rider so I do ask some really newbie questions (like what do you do if your kickstand falls off and you can't get off your bike....) but I have definitely enjoyed the process of learning all about riding. Since I purchased the bike in August, I have actually spent more time riding on a track (between MSR, ECR, and TWS) than I have on the street so you can guess what kind of riding I'm learning to do first. I have found the weekend street rides to be much more enjoyable as I got more comfortable on the track.
I don't own a Monster (yeah, I hear the boos and hissing from the crowd - Hey it's a MONSTER forum after all! ) but I hope that a Ducati 748 is welcome here as well. My Duc is a pretty stock "Giallo" 2001 748 in (Arrow slip-ons, a couple of CF pieces, and the grips are all I've changed), though I do throw on some used Sharkskinz track fairings in red when on the track (so it's red with yellow fuel tank and tail). Speedymoto fork sliders and some stompgrips on the tank round out the other changes. Currently shod with Michelin 2CT rubber though I may have to check out those OEM tires that I saw on the 1098s next time.
Looking forward to getting to know more Ducatisti in the area!

Welcome to the board Carlo, glad you made it! Don't worry about the no Monster thing... we don't discriminate! ;D [thumbsup]
Hell... some of us don't even ride Ducs', but we don't speak his name **cough- Cyclone -cough** ;-) JK Don, you know we love ya!
Welcome to the board! Glad to see you here. I've seen you on another Ducati forum. There's a ton more going on in this regional forum. As you'll hear as others post up, we hope you can make it out to some of our frequent get togethers! Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you in person on Saturday - they drove us corner workers like dogs. ;)
I posted in the other section as well, but welcome [thumbsup]
Sign up for the calendar at the top of the section- lots of fun stuff coming up!
Looking forward to meeting & riding soon ;D

I'll definitely try to make a get-together. I guess I have my incentive to get my bike back into street trim and put lights and mirrors back on. I need another bike (can't wait for spring... [evil]).
;D Space open in the Koolest Kabin at Koyote Ranch this weekend for the Hill Country Tour !! C'mon down - Sir L'oin has a spot on his trailer & it should be fun !!
[evil] You have a Ducati but not a Monster, I have a monster ( hahahaha) but no Ducati ( YET ) Welcome to the DFWM ! Look forward to seeing you at some of the flash bar calls!
Are you an Eastie [thumbsup] or a Westie :-X ????

No go this weekend (have to hop over the pond for a trip) but I guess I'm considered an Eastie (Plano near Tollway). I'll definitely there for whatever a flash bar call is...
Welcome, man [thumbsup]
Saw you tearing it up at the track but didn't get to meet you. [moto]
Lots of rides, meets, and other shenanigans here, hope to meet you and the bike soon

Glad you made it. It was nice meeting and talking to you and your wife on Saturday. I look forward to seeing you again. I hope to progress as fast as you did on the track, you fly brother.

Great meeting you as well. Glad I decided to try and squeeze in to that spot next to your truck!
You're already progressing faster than me on the track! Took me 6 track days to just kiss the pavement with my left knee slider...and was only yesterday until I can get it down consistently in some turns. ;D
Now I have to work on the ultra-clean, untouched right knee slider... [laugh]
Nice meeting you Saturday [thumbsup] Yes, I think I have video of you screaming by me on the track. Youtube completely takes all the quality away from the video when you upload it.

Welcome to the DFWM! I don't know if I got to talk to you at trackday but I'll make a point to meet you at the next one. [thumbsup]
Welcome!

Thanks. I'd love to have a clip of the original one of these days. My only track video so far has been my first day when I thought I was really leaning the bike and was disappointed to see that I probably put in a whopping 15 degrees (and crossed-up at that!). I'll remember that track day since I also found out that the rental leathers leave a certain aroma with you...and I promptly bought a new set the following week.
Bryant8 - I think you were the one wearing the same leathers I had on (black Dainese Laguna Seca) on an 848, right? I'll try to be more sociable next time ;D
Actually, I ended up getting myself a bit dehydrated in the late afternoon so I was taking advantage of the entire 30 min break to rest. I'm also not used to having bikes too close to me the whole session so I still need to train my vision to look further down the track more...Of course, riding a 748, I'd better get used to it since I couldn't believe how fast the other bikes go when the throttles are opened up. I was telling people I felt like someone was doing that Startrek 'warp speed' thing at the exit of the turns. There was also a Monster of some sort that had to be on steroids because him and this 1098R were just running away on every exit/straight. If the guy is in this group, I'd like to apologize for almost passing him in a corner (Little Bend) because I couldn't quite catch up enough after Ricochet to make a clean pass. I backed off just before the apex and he went on his merry way (and I just followed him around the rest of the session).
I'm really looking forward to next time!
Yes indeed, that's me!

I think the guy you are referencing was riding a Chrome Monster? I recall seeing him zoom past me at full throttle on every lap. If that's the Monster you're thinking of, I don't think he's part of this crowd.
The Cromo Monster owner is a good guy! I've talked to him multiple times at AMS, but his name escapes me.
That's an 2v 900 too

He was running intermediate. I try not to look at bikes on the track since I got caught admiring the MV Agusta as I was going through Rattlesnake and then we were in Wagonwheel! I just know the bike had a lot more grunt than my 748 since I would be on the throttle a lot earlier and not gain on him after he accelerated. Probably could've passed but no use doing something silly on a track day which is for fun and not a race....
