Hey all:
I'm intrested in Installing a Center Stand from a ST4 for a M 800 03 for winter starage purposes; has anyone installed a centerstand on a monster?
Theres a long through bolt for the rear connector looks like it should go through the header exhaust supports and the front holes should connect through the rear foot peg bolt.
In the long through bolt area there's a 2 piece metal connector for the back of the main exhaust horizontal header cloverleaf that attaches to that point along with no less than 15- bushings; bolts; connectors; spacers; washers .... which pieces I reinstall and which ones I omit ....? [coffee]
.... whats the best procedure and what parts to omit?
To answer your question:
Yes.
Anderson used to make a centre (yup Canadians spell centre like this) stand for Monsters. I contacted the company in 2003 and mentioned that I didn't think it would fit on one of the newer Monsters (2003) and they agreed.
Anyways this is a work/storage stand.

That center stand in your pic looks way different from what i have; I think i have a OEM Ducati stand; matches the bike and paint ...
There's a few folks here that have the OEM Ducati centerstands.

Haha, you asked if anyone had installed one, and I said yes no AND NOTHING!!! ;)
You see them on ebay occasionally, and sometimes on the store here. I'm kinda tossing up whether to get one or not, cos they look so cool and retro, but i don't know if I can deal with seeing all that junk down there when it's retracted.
Dunno about the '03 but I put a ST2 c/s on my 2000 M900 ie. No great drama except had to heat and bend the foot lever piece outwards a coupla inches to clear the low mounted left muffler.
I have the OEM one on mine, and really like the added stability when parked. Tire changes, chain maintenance, sprocket changes, etc. are much easier too, and don't require a lift stand.

The ones I've seen aren't really that obtrusive.
I didn't think " :o OMFG, WHAT IS THAT?".
I didn't see it right away, looking the bike over and "Oh, it's got a centerstand.".

1+; yes it looks like it would be a clean and matching stand( unlike the photo above of the non OEM which is not so well designed) and red). I'll post some picks once the C Stand is installed.

... ok thanks for the constructive feedback;
hummm clearance issues are a problem; but nice to know that the install isn't too much of a hastle.
Did you have to omit any of the header connector pieces? or at the foot peg connection. ( any bending sounds like a major job without the proper facilities ... I hope its a direct match.)
I hear it hurts your lean clearances but I'm nowhere near being a good enough rider to reach max lean. [roll]
The installation was fairly simple, but I did the fit up without the spring until I had it right. There was an alloy disc between the mount and motor that had to be discarded. Didn't have to touch anything to do with the exhaust system on mine.
I would not have bought the Monster unless I could fit a centrestand. IMHO a motorcycle without a c/s is nuthin' but a pain to live with. NO cornering clearance issues.

NO cornering clearance issues.
Sorry, didn't mean to imply that it would hamper cornering ability. You'd have to take it off if you were to track your bike but it generally won't affect a street rider. If you're really pushing the twisties it could be problematic though.

As stated thats a shop stand, it is not permanently attached, the OEM is.
the ducati oem centerstand fits nicely on the bike, you can see that its there bc well its a big piece of metal but its no different than any other bike iwth it on.
it will clear the stock lowmount exhause or any round or oval style low mounts easily without mods, no mods to the sidestand/footpegs are needed it bolts right up, though i didn't do it, my dealer did, it did not change anythign with those parts listed above. the only issue i see is if you have a single sided or highmount exhuast then it would look a bit funny bc the lowmount exhaust naturlaly sort of "hides" the legs of the centerstand when retracted.
yes it will cut down a litlt on cornering clearance but unless you are at a trackday (you have to take it off for that) or doing really really really agressive canyon riding (normal riding at speed limit you wont' notice it) then it might be an issue.
Will the center stand fit the S2R?
