I'm glad you don't live next door to me ;D
DB killers. Just pointed someone else to some online shops for them: (some specifically for SIL)

My wife complains about her '01 M900ie with Termi high-mounts being too loud. It will actually give her a headache, so......now she wears ear plugs when she's riding that bike.
Is it too loud for you? Or your neighbors? ;D
After a few thousand miles of riding, my Sil Megaphone slip ons have mellowed out once it got a bit of carbon in it. Maybe I should clean them.
That said, the dB killers that came with them knock off about 20dB and actually sound quite nice (same sound, just not as rumbly).

For me earplugs still aren't enough. The booming inside my helmet is just too much (bone conduction). I had to put in db-killers. I wish I didn't have to though.
Anything over 80 decibels with kill your auditory nerves measured in hours. I just came from a health seminar at work!
If i can fit them on a monster 620 ill take them, if im not setting off car alarms its isnt loud enough.
WTF! [roll]
Sell your Ducati and buy a BMW. Now.
;D ;D

How many hours is the Q. I use to ride without earplugs with open udder. After about 3 months, i coudlnt hear a god damn thing. Now I wear ear plugs and my hearing has slowly come back. Luckly, your low tone is more resilient then your high tone hairs, so i havent lost tht much hearing. I cant stress to my friends how important it is to wear ear plugs while riding. Especially if you have a loud exhaust.
2 years ago on my very first ride with my 695 (with open Termis) it took only 2 hours to result in permanent tinnitus.

i doubt that was caused by just 2 hours.
most people have tinnitus due to a life long exposure to loud noises that just pile up on each other. those termi pipes might of just pushed it over that edge.
Anyone have some baffles to sell? Thanks for the replies
Baffles? You might want to check these guys out, the might have what you're looking for:

Just trade someone that has stock pipes.
Actually, ear plugs are a good idea unless it's for the neighbors.

The tinnitus may not have been caused exclusively by the exhaust, but loud noise over a relatively short period can make it much worse.
I picked up my bike from the shop last spring after a 944 upgrade and the installation of some loud new cans. Was so pumped about checking out the mods I forgot to take my earplugs. Two hours of canyon carving later with lots of desmo music coming from the open intake and exhaust my fairly minor tinnitus was absolutely roaring. Five months later it still is.
Don't ride loud bikes w/o earplugs.
For fun, I was attempting to install the DB killers into the Termignoni cans this morning. They don't just slip in. I put some lube on them and gently tried to insert them (sounds pornographic, sorry). Neither side would go in without a lot of force. So I gave up and thought I'd ask here before trying it again.
The only thing I figured was that once their in, to get them out, I'd have to unhinge the whole muffler, and tap them out with a long rod from the other end.
These pipes are loud, and I like it, but have never heard the pipes with the DB Killers in. [moto]

Not sure if this is going to work, but you could try putting the baffles in to the exhaust after a ride. I imagine the exhausts will expand a bit due to the heat. It might just be enough to get the baffles in? Hell, you could even try putting the baffles in a fridge for a while.
Good advice! My buddy who is a metal worker suggested the same thing. Pop 'em in the freezer and go for a ride! [leo]
just a warning though, make sure you have something to easily pull it out because this trick probably won't work for getting them out. A good vise grip is what I use, but I've been thinking this (http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=354_485&products_id=1167) might be good tool to use without deforming the baffles (which the vise grip does a bit).

Isn't that the same device that Ancient Egyptians used to remove the brains of Pharoahs through their noses? [laugh]

Haha, that's the first thing I thought when I saw it too...
I've never ridden with ear plugs and I've never thought it was loud. ???
Stock cans, quiet helmet. I still have to plug my ears at hockey games, and can't stand most live music. But I can't see why I would need to wear ear plugs on my bike. Do you guys think it's unhealthy to ride without earplugs even when I can't notice any discomfort or temporary hearing 'numbness' after riding? Do you think hearing loss is going to sneak up and surprise me or something?
I can't hear my engine over the wind noise on the freeway, but the wind noise doesn't strike me as being uncomfortable...
Truth be told, I haven't been on many "long" rides, though. Most are under half an hour.
