We're doing it again... FINALLY!!!
Going back to Café Rembrandt. Everybody liked the big well-lit parking lot, tasty beers selection, and quality entertainment, so we're going back.
We are reserved for Saturday night, 15 November.
We did a lot of searching for some more good entertainment, and it turns out having a hot, scantily clad female sitting on your bike is preferred to a five piece all male band playing Hits of our Fathers.
Yes, The Velvet Kittens are coming back! They have some new acts and some favorites too.
More details to follow, but put it on your calendar and spread the word.
Now I better tell the car guys....
That's a popular weekend... I think the AMS fashion show is the same night

Sounds most excellent.
Where, exactly, is Cafe Rembrandt?
What time does the fun start on November 15th?
Is there any sort of cover charge?
Thanks.
George

Well, on one hand that sucks. I dont want conflict with that ( I wanna go dangit) but it didn't show up on our DFWM calendar.
On the other hand, Rembrandt's is just around the corner from AMS Dallas. Pretty easy to do some of both.
Hope that works out. Kittens take the stage at 10pm

It's in downtown Dallas within a mile from AMS. No cover charge.
More details later, like start time and such.

OK, OK, I was being lazy. Busted. For anyone else who is as lazy as me, and for whom "within a mile of AMS" is a little too vague, the address for Cafe Rembrandt is 703 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX. It's in the NE intersection of I-35 & Woodall Rogers at the westmost end of McKinney Ave (the one downtown).
I shall be awaiting further details with baited breath... [coffee] BTW, does anyone know the cure for baited breath?
Pura vida!

Hey - what kind of car would be considered 'exotic'?

Why does this feel like a trap?
Exotic = anything that you can't afford.
Last time there were a dozen or so Ferraris, couple of GT40s, one Gran Torino, few Lambos, and an occasional Maserati

Ok, all of the above, certainly qualify for exotic. I've also heard of one offs being called exotic like customs and racers. One I'd love to have would be the McClaren. I might even take an Enzo if someone just wanted to give it up.
So does someone decide if a car is an exotic before it gets to park? Just curious how that works. For example, I have a feeling that if someone drives up in a neon green Civic with a big Fast-and-the-Furious spoiler on top along with an underbody lighting kit, they may just not get the 'exotic' car welcome...or would that be fine too?
Just wondering how formal this is or whether it's one of those parking lot meets where pretty much anyone can park whatever they brought...
Well, Ron and Steph are the organizers for this event. They spread the word to the various car clubs in the area, they are on the Ferrari Chat forum and then word spreads to the NSX/Lambo group. You can bring whatever vehicle but there was specific parking for Ferraris, Lambo, and etc.
So would German be welcomed with a decent parking spot ;)?

Oh yeah, there were a few Porches, a RUF as well [thumbsup]
Bryant's right, I need to add more detail for the folks that weren't around for the last event. I'll be a bit brief due to PITA iPhone.
Exotic Car Night has been around a few years and is put on by Ferrarchat.com. You can check over there in the Texas section for the car piece of the event.
Earlier this year I proposed bringing the Ducs and Ferraris together for the event and they were pretty positive about it. Most of the car attendees are real motorheads and a lot of fun. Not so much the gold chain stereotypes.
Last year the Monster group met beforehand and did a little Dallas area cruise before rumbling into the parking lot at Rembrandts together. We made quite an entrance!

Ah...Rob's involved with this! I used to race cars with Rob so I do know him. Should've figured if the Ferrari's were involved, he'd be somewhere in the picture. If this will be a social thing [wine], there's little chance I'd be riding the Duc...

Yup. Spec 7 back in 01-03. Small world. Donato and Mark were trying to get me back into Spec 7...then I thought I'd have a little more fun and start all over again, hence the bikes. the lean angle thing was always fascinating to me. Greg bought my car (Light blue with white stripe - used to be #8)

Just saw this. It's right next to Newports seafood restaurant. It used to be a mexican food place that had been there for years... the name fails me right now. The courthouse crowd ate there all the time and my brother's step son had his rehearsal dinner there. Damn, can't remember the name... anyway, it's next to Newports if that's a clue.
Hey now I wish I was there to it again!! Piss off rich pregnant doges, set off car alarms, DAMN that was a good night!!!
They are so lovely from the front!

An update on the entertainment for the event. A little mixup with the Velvet Kittens for that night. There will be a band there, instead. Supposed to be pretty good, so it will still be a fun evening.
Some good news though. The Kittens will be at Rembrandt the Saturday before, and the Saturday after, the car and bike event. If anybody wants to get together and go see them either of those nights, I would be totally up for that. ;D Discuss...
Oh, and I've never seen Cafe Rembrandt have a cover charge.

A note from Ferrarichat.com about the event. The link is for the spring '08 event. We're not doing an event poster this time, but for that event we did a photo shoot and WiWa did the poster. Nice. [thumbsup]
For those that want to learn about Exotic Car Nights or for those that only attended at the Carson's location please view the following thread. Earlier this year Ron & Stephanie organized the first Exotic Car Nights at a location other than Carson's. It was a record turnout with 50+ Exotics, 20+ Bikes, and 100+ People. Everyone invited from all clubs... muscle cars, Vipers, Vettes, Porsche, NSX, and imports were all well represented too.

Hey Ron, what time does this start?
I guess that would help.
Start time is 7:00 pm
Band starts at 10 pm. That's about when the AMS Fashion Show lets out.
Come and go as you please. Some of the cars show up early and leave early, so you can see different ones throughout the evening. Gonna be a busy weekend!
I'll be at the AMS Fashion Show then I'll go by the Cafe Rembrandt.
Here are some directions for Cafe Rembrandt. It's really easy to get there from I-35E, between Reunion Tower and American Airlines Center:
From I-35 Southbound - exit Continental - take a left (east) go under the bridge - and take a right directly into the Brewery Building Parking Lot (big sign painted on the side of the entrance to the parking lot).
From I-35 Northbound - exit Continental - take a right (east) go under the bridge - take a right directly into the Brewery Building Parking Lot (big sign painted on the side of the entrance to the parking lot)
From I-75 - take Woodall Rogers to the Field Street exit - stay on the service road at Field Street head toward the House of Blues but take the fork to the left (under the bridge) that will head you toward the West End - take an immediate right on McKinney (it's either that or you hit the building in front of you) and go straight - I mean it, head straight - you will stop at a stop sign and think you need to turn - but no joke, head straight - then you come to a light - and head straight - right into the Brewery Building parking lot. It's not as hard as it sounds or looks, just follow the directions.
Here's a map of the area. The blue line ends at the parking lot entry of the Brewery Building, in case you try to interpret the somewhat confusing route coming down I-75 and Woodall Rogers. The Brewery Bldg is not marked on this map, but House of Blues and Dick's Last Resort ARE marked for reference.
You can also see Continental Avenue. It doesn't show the side street that comes up to the Cafe Rembrandt (Brewery Bldg) parking lot, but just follow the directions above, and you can't miss it.
If it's too chilly for you to ride this evening you can still attend in your cage. We have marked off parking for the racy cars and bikes, but there is still plenty of free parking in front of Rembrandt's.
I hear there's an Eagles concert at the AA Center, so there may be some traffic in the area around 7-ish.
well, THAT sucked!
So, how was it??? Any pics???
