Hello Everyone,
Has anyone ever seen/known a motorcyclist wearing hearing aids?
This is the ultimate question I posted to several helmet manufacturers regarding these sort of helmets. They may not realize the increasing number of riders who actually wear hearing aids while riding a bicycle or motorcycle. I've seen several websites with DIY information in modifying bicycle helmets, but so far nothing about motorcycle helmets.
So if anyone can provide me with useful insight or would like to assist in this, I'd be happy! I wear behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE for short) and I'm wondering how the heck will I be able to wear a helmet when out riding? Still doing my research and possibly buy myself a couple of used helmets & see how they can be properly modified without decreasing the safety factor.
Cheers [moto]
Hmmm.... I'm not sure how functionality of the hearing aid will be compromised but there some helmet speaker companies that cut out a larger ear pocket for their speakers. So if all you need is some extra space I don't see anything wrong w/ shaving out a little bit extra around the ear pocket.
Both my Arai helmets have big, deep ear pockets that I believe would accomidate a BTE hearing aide.
What brands of helmets have you tried?
I suppose it depends on what kind of riding you do (in town/slow traffic or commuting/highway riding) but most of the time I prefer to wear my earplugs anyway. I'm not trying to be contrary, just wondering why not put the aid in your pocket and chuck in a pair of ear plugs?

Basically most of my riding will be done in the city, commuting to/fro work and etc.
I really don't need to wear ear plugs, as once my aids are off..I'm oblivious to the world. 8)
