Title: Monthly Zeitgeist Meet-Up: Thurs Oct. 30.
Post by: Spidey on October 26, 2008, 08:47:38 AM
The monthly ZEITGEIST meet-up.
Warm beer, cold women, motorcycles ok.
Fast, friendly, service.  Pick one.

Location: Valencia & Duboce in SF
Time: Thursday the 30th, 6:30is or 7ish or whenever

Yup, it's that time of the month.  Time for beer, tamales, bikes, port-a-potties, and shit-talking about riding, crashing, racing and bike mods.  We'll have updates from the World President's Meeting in Valencia, stories of drunken debauchery, and tall tales about how impressed Stoner was with our riding prowess.

Newcomers and non-monster owners are always welcome.  We'll buy you a beer.  Even if you're just curious about bikes, feel free to stop by and meet the gang.  If you're new and ya post up beforehand, we'll make sure that you can find us.

Roll call . . .

I may be there but...Still got no bike. Hatar Motorsports is waiting for my rear hub assembly and a few tasty bits from Italy.

Gee I took the bike in a month ago for a few scratches and an insurance claim... and golly... it has yet to be worked on.  [bang]  What have I done???

Speaking of which, I can't make it tonight.  BD/SM workshop that I couldn't reschedule.  Actually, I picked up a flu in Spain and it's a hardy little pregnant dog.  I'm still down for the count.  Been on the couch all day.  Drink & eat for me.   [drink]

Next month will prolly not be the 4th Thurs b/c of Thanksgiving.  We'll schedule accordingly.

I'll be by the central business district, where will you be?

I didn't know they were calling liver failure the "flu" now.  ;D

Rest up amigo - you were missed last night.  Although datv did provide excellent tales of the trip.

Zeitgeist was a tranquil bastion of booze and tamales last night.  The "weather" kept all the white-linen pants type at home and we had a great table and remarkably warm temps.  I really enjoy the winter meets there.   [thumbsup]

Are you going to the HUGO conference by any chance?  That's what I'm going for.

I'm staying at the conference hotel, it's near Raffles and City Hall, I'll have my bicycle with me too.  I'll send you a PM with contact info.

Sat on the fence last evening ...contemplating the weather.
Glad I got off my duff and headed down to meet some new friends.
For those of you contemplating joining the next SF-centric meet-up...here is what I know:

Everyone wanted to share their secret rides...and most agreed that the 5 miles before Tomales is SWEETNESS.
We all Like Beer...'cept Charlie..she's enjoys the fine bouquet & earthy undertones of vin rouge.
Desmoquattro has a bit of Evil Knievel in him and is willing share his wheelin poppin skills.
Some are new to Duc's but not necessarily to riding (that would be me), but the attitude is very welcoming

With the weather headed to poopy-town, glad I made the effort. I really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to sunnier days and killer espresso up in Pt. Reyes

Good meeting you new folks!

Glad to see the rest of you.

Datv was there to represent the survivors of Spain!   [thumbsup] Sounds like I need to plan another trip to Europe.
I missed Dantheman in his toga :-[

Tigre resurfaced with the new bellatheball in tow and stories of the race season. Imagine that! w00t! Glad to meet the new gal finally dude! She seems tres cool.  [thumbsup]

[bacon] For the first time in my life I ordered a burger at ZG and received said burger with a smile in the same minute. ' Kind of freaked me out.  [bacon]
The very necessary  [drink] was much appreciated after playing slip and slide on the way home.  :P

PS. Esquire magazine was back with snaphappy photographers. I guess my modeling career is taking off  [cheeky]
Lets see, we should have 2 more months to enjoy ZG, then we'll get the Marina puking its contents into the mission to see the latest novelty.  [laugh] I don't really mind the diversity. As long as they don't  [puke] on my leathers.
ZG has done wonders with the extra cash flow. There was TP in the bathrooms! No lie!

Esquire Magazine?  I thought it was CityBike?  You're freakin' me out dude...I actually let that guy take my photo!  DrunkenMonkey, MichaelMoore and I did a cute little pose (we thought)--no, it wasn't some take-off on "surprise buttsecks" either.   :P  Totally PG.

I asked one of the photographers what they were up to, who responded,

"Esquire Magazine. Now hug your friend and smile....click-POOF"

There were 2 of them. It was a little stupid how they kept posing everyone. How many "CHEESE  [thumbsup]" poses can a mag think is interesting?

Well, it IS Esquire...Granted, I think some relatively intelligent stuff has come out of that rag, but from what I can tell from the covers I see as I stand in line at the grocery store, it's largely about how to "make her go crazy in bed," the best ab exercises, chest hair, debates on who was the best James Bond, $3K suits, and scantily dressed women.   [coffee]

Good meeting new folks and having a few beers.  Weather held out and roads were semi-dry.

Funny cause the photographer said he was taking pictures for Zeitgeist's annual "yearbook". eh.
gave them the scowl, a finger and he snapped the shot.  [laugh]

see you guys next time.

kind of like buying a Ducati  ;D

I read a review of Z somewhere and the person complained about the yuppie Ducati snobs that drink there now... I kid you not, I will have to find the link.

I dont tip the food staff just to keep them ornery, and I personally pee all over the floor of the port "O" potties just to keep the place authentic.  Next time I go there and I see a dude wearing a pink polo I will pour my beer on them.  [thumbsup]

It's the same tired refrain everyone uses about the Mission.  Everyone wants to be the lone yuppie hanging out in a sea of tattoo'd artists and bike messengers.  Guess what?  You're not different than yuppies you're complaining about.

Mebbe a group burn-out next month in an ineffectual attempt to prove 'them' wrong?

alternative suggestion ... next time any of the MOB is at zg and sees a photographer taking their photo ... spit on them as they take the photo, kick them in the balls after they take the photo ... then smash their camera.  the headlines will then read "ducati riding punks terrorize the zg" ... viola! [thumbsup]

Sometimes I find myself getting sucked in by Yelp... it's the same part of me that doesn't turn the channel when I see midgets and women with their shirts off throwing chairs at one another during a Jerry Springer Show.  That right there is usually enough to pregnant dog-slap me back into reality.

And I'm sure when I walk into the place there is much grumbling about how old farts are wrecking the joint.
