Hey guys…. I’ve been a tourist around the Monster forums for a few months now, mostly lurking here and there. I live in Toronto Canada and grew up riding dirt bikes, last one was a 1998 CR250. I graduated to sports cars and modded up a few bimmers, currently driving a 2000 Mroadster that has become a garage queen since I got into bikes. I bought my first street bike last summer, a 2001 Shadow 600 (laugh here), to learn on and get used to riding again. I got bored of it this summer and sold it a few weeks ago, cruisers are not my thing.
So now I’m looking for some new wheels. My search started and pretty much ended at the Toronto Ducati / Triumph dealer. I have checked out the entire Triumph and Ducati line-ups and I found that the 696 fit me like a glove and I really dig the look. The only reason I didn’t buy one is the possibility I will get used to the power and need something bigger. I was told by the sales rep to hold out because Ducati had something coming down the pipe that would be just what I was looking for. Sure enough, last time I was in the dealer they filled me in on the Monster 1100 that they had just seen unveiled at the Ducati conference the previous weekend. I am waiting for the phone call to let me know when the first 1100 comes in so I can see it in the flesh.
I’ve been reading up on this M1100 ever since, and this forum has been a great resource. I’ll be hanging around here for a while asking a few Q’s from time to time, thanks for looking.
Welcome to the DMF! Well, we certainly will be waiting to hear when your 1100 comes in too. ;D
Welcome to the forum. [thumbsup]
If your ever down in the Buffalo area for a ride, give me a heads up. [moto]
Welcome aboard fellow Ontario rider!
We won't laugh too hard at you for cutting your teeth on a Shadow. It beats buying an R1 and rolling it into a ball because it was more bike than you had bargained for. (Full disclosure...I too have a couple of cruisers lurking in my past but found that a Duc is way more fun! :-[ )
I know it's a bit of a ride but if you ever decide to head north of the city I'm in North Bay.
