So, this "guy" I know was running errands on his bike today, and when he got home decided to lube his chain.
Problems arose when I umm, I mean HE lubed the rear tire also. [bang]
Any advice to help clean up mess? Tried a few things, but tire is still a bit greasy. Although, if I only turn right, I should be okay... [roll]
simple green then rinse..
try..
you be the the guinea pig. [roll]

Burnout.
;D
Don't think I could pull that off even if I knew how to do it. [roll]
It's just that last 1/2 inch to the edge of the tire that got all slicked up...
Sandpaper might be a bit excessive, but it'll work. You'll also no longer have a chicken strip on that side of the tyre.
They clean off the mould release stuff from tyres with acetone, aka nail polish remover. That should work quite adequately for this purpose too.
It's a common mistake to make, unfortunately.
I'd give the Simple Green a shot, wipe real well with a rough cloth, then rinse off like crazy.
WD40 would get it off, too, but then you have to get the WD40 off.
Good news is WD40 comes off a lot easier than chain lube, but I'm not sure what sort of effect it might have on the rubber. ???
+1 on the simple green
Next time, try taping a piece of aluminum foil or a rag behind your chain onto your swing arm so when you lube it wont get on your tires and wheel. [thumbsup]
The simple green should work fine. Do scrub the tires a little before serious cornering though.
Prepsol or any grease and wax remover, as used by spray painters to prepare cars/bikes before painting.

I like burnout option - only if accompanied by pics! [popcorn]
Find a wall or parking bumper for help. [evil]
Look out for [leo]
I know something to put on your x-mass list - the Chain Drain

+1 on the toluene or acetone on a rag. Get it at the hardware store. It's good to keep a little around anyway. Some carb cleaners are made of the same stuff.

I noticed they were using it on a Duc Monster in the pics. [thumbsup]

Actually it's a Ministrada - a Multi 620. Same swing arm though. WbW has a lot of Ducati content siince one of the main guys has a couple ducs. In general, a great informational resource.
And as far as lube on the wheel - you're up to you eyeballs in suggestions...
I've used the wd40 solution before. spray a little, rinse it off. take a few nice left handers and should be good
Thanks for all the tips, everyone. [thumbsup]
Tried the Simple Green and it was okay.. (maybe I didn't scrub hard enough?) But am going to try the acetone next. picked up some nail polish remover on the way home... got a funny look from cute check out girl. [roll]

Tell her it's for your motorbike. Offer to take her for a ride, and you'd be happy to remove her nail polish from her hands and feet if she'd like too :).
Be careful with that acetone...it can damage rubber (as well as your plastics and paint).
I'd think the Simple Green would be sufficient, just ride it carefully the first few miles.

Acetone is what's used to remove mould release compound on tyres, so I don't think it's too bad for the rubber...
N.B. and edited for clarification. I'm not saying you soak the tyre in an acetone bath. The way the mould release agent is taken off tyres is to have a rag with some actone on it rubbed over the surface of the tyre, then the surface of the tyre is rubbed with a clean rag. Works for me.

The problem with that is she looked like she was about 16. :-\
Maybe in someone else's bag off tricks, (not implying you, btw) but not mine.
Thanks for the edit with the how to... I was gonna take the wheel off, but now I'll just put it on the rear stand and use my roomates' t-shirts for rags. [evil]
Thanks again...
