Title: Termignoni Exhausts for 696
Post by: slim_grizzy on October 28, 2008, 01:44:03 PM
I'm going to upgrade to the Termis.  After checking what other manufacturers put out, I still like them the best (and wish I would have just thrown on when I bought the bike).  But I am curious, are there any performance differences between the SS, Carbon and Ti versions?  I like the Titanium ones the most for looks but I'd like to save a little cash too. Also, is there a difference in sound or durability and maintenance among those 3?

Not sure about the 696. But I had an '01 Monster S4 (916) with titanium Two Brothers Racing slip-ons. While they sounded awesome, there was something 'tinny' about the sound compared to the carbon equivalent. I definitely liked the sound of the carbon a little better.
But as long as your bike is red, which is the fastest color, you should be OK.

The carbon and the stainless version have the same computer, just differant finishes. The Ti. is smog legal with a small cat converter in it.

The Dealer installed the stainless on my bike by mistake, but when I saw them I almost kept them. They look very, very good, they have a near mirror finish and they have a blueish gray tint to them, which the installer thought they were the Ti. exhausts which I originally wanted, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I would be happy with the stainless and they are cheaper.

The dealer told me the  Ti. exhausts  were smog legal and would not make as much power, He also told me he installed a similar exhaust on a 1098 and It looked and sounded good. I can't imagine the exhaust making loads of power on a little 696 vs. a 1098 performance engine. Just get what you can afford.

I have the carbon Termi's and I love them. One thing to consider is heat. I don't know how the stainless or TI retain heat, but I can put my hand on the cans as soon as I get off from a ride. They get hot, but not where you can get burned like the stock cans.

Thanks Craig,

I've been waiting some time to really hear a 696 with slip-ons on it.
Sounds pretty sweet.  [thumbsup]
