I will be retrieving the details of my project from the other site soon, but we've made some pretty good progress on the old girl. I have some new pics to post for you all and I'm happy to say that she should be back together and stylin sooner rather than later. Stay tuned! ;D
Great, I'm glad you are keeping us updated! Can't wait to see the new pictures. [thumbsup]

Sweet, I love the red stripe! You do look like it's Christmas. ;D
It is very cool to watch this taking shape. Thanks for posting the pics. [thumbsup]
That is lookin awesome!!! Can't wait to see it take shape some more. :)
It is great to see some progress on the project. [thumbsup]
Looks like soon you will be [moto]
Very nice [thumbsup] Can't wait to see it all together...Bet you can't either [wine]
So we made some more progress in the last couple of days. All of the rusty welds, scaly spots, and rash on the frame got touched up with some oil based rustoleum this weekend; it didn't match perfectly but it is definitely close and as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather see mismatched red than rusty steel! Tonight the forks got a nice rebuild. A special thanks to Miles and Eric from BCM, Miles for the Monster fork springs (that fit beautifully BTW) and Eric for taking the time to share his awesome suspension knowledge with my beau Tony.
Laying out the details of my tail chop and blinker locations:

Test fitting the mini-spear signals (the bike actually came with the wiring harness hidden away within the headlight assembly):

I swapped the handlebars over tonight. You can see there's just a wee difference between the two:
Getting ready to apply the decals. You can also see that the rear wheel has been set back on and the foot pegs have been painted black, along with the triples, headlight housing, brackets, and some other tidbits:
Decals - I love them and hate them all at the same time. They're fun to do but lining them up can be a PITA. After applying the first side, I took some measurements and used fine line tape to mark off the area I needed to land in on the other side.

And the moment of truth:

Wow, it's really coming together! [thumbsup]

Ha! I don't! Tony has just been ordering parts as I need them and adding it to my tab! [bang]
I could have bought a clean, road ready one at the rate I'm going [laugh]
Looks good so far [thumbsup]
mitt
+1 very cool.
I think it's more satisfying to put it together yourself vs (versus) buying on all ready to go.

keep those pics coming!

it's really coming along :)
how long before you think you'll be riding?
Cool project bi-posto. I always wanted one of those when I was younger. THe mag rags always gave them good reviews.
Nice butt HB. [laugh]
But seriously, the bike is really looking good, can't wait to see pics of the finished moto!!

You mean there is a bike in that picture?
I like the colors and great work so far.
Once you get that thing full of fluids and the rest of the hardware bolted on should drop it to the ground nicely. [moto]
Nice job so far too. [thumbsup]
Lookin good [beer]
lookin' spiffy. [thumbsup]
Wow, that is REALLY coming together!! Congrats!! [beer]
I can't wait to see the maiden voyage photos!! [moto]
She is complete! (I hope) ;D
I haven't uploaded the pics yet but she's all back together and ready to roll. I need to come up with some cash to register and insure her, and then T is going to ride 'er around for a while to make sure the bugs are worked out.
Got my first drop out of the way too [laugh]
Last Saturday I decided to shave the seat down, so I would shave a little, sit on the bike, shave a little, sit on the bike.
The foam under the cover was very rubbery and therefore kind of sticky.
Well...
I put the seat on to test it out, threw my right leg over... and got my crotch hung up on the foam! [laugh] She started to tip to the right and I kind of did this silly little dance on my right toe "oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit..." - all the way to the ground [cheeky] I couldn't slide my butt over on the seat enough to put my foot all the way down because of above mentioned crotch troubles.
Didn't hurt the bike a bit. My freshly painted exhaust was spared, and the frame slider in front held the rest of it off the ground. T came running around the corner to see my bike on its side and me giggling like an idiot!
So for those of you who are curious.... the seat shave was a success and bought me a little more than a 1/2" :) Still can't flat foot it, but it definitely helped.
Put the finished pics up already!
Just kidding, I can wait.
Can you get any more height out of the bike by dropping the forks a bit? I don't know what sets the height in the rear, but is there any adjustment there either?
mitt
We have plenty of room to drop the forks a bit. The back would need dogbones at this point to drop it down, but we're trying to avoid that if possible. We're going to leave it alone for now as T will be riding it a bit, and he already looks like a monkey make the beast with two backsing a football on it... [laugh]
Nice, looking forward to the updated pictures and the first ride report. [thumbsup] [moto]

Link no workie :-\
You are my FERO ! (Fem Hero).
I remeber you starting this project on the OTB... looks great mate [thumbsup]. Well done from the Aussie gang. [clap] - Chris
ps, any chance of new pics? or is that the link issue??
If I might offer a suggestion...
If you have any way of getting your levers a little closer to the bars (different levers, maybe) so that you're not operating them with the very tips of your fingers, it will do a lot toward giving you better control and more confidence. Bet you can't guess how I know. [laugh]
So here they are - the last few images I took as we completed the bike! Enjoy :)
Tony drilled a hole in my headlight housing so he could mount the switch for my grip warmers in a convenient, unobtrusive place.
Shaving the seat. The back section of the cover remained stapled on for ease of reattachment.
I sat on the seat and had Tony draw around my bum so I knew what part of the seat needed the most attention.
Let the fun begin... if you ever decide to shave your seat - definitely do it outside! What a freaking mess! I put a board across the trash can so most of it would just fall right in.
Tony didn't get any pics of me stretching the cover back on, but it was pretty tough as I removed a lot of material. I literally had to sit on the side of the seat and yahd on er with both hands to get it flat against the foam without making creases or wrinkles. What a PITA! It was worth it though. I wish I had taken a good before shot, but hopefully this gives you an idea:
If you go back to some of the previous posts you'll see a shot of my on the very tips of my toes. Here's about where the seat chop left me:

The only damage sustained when I dropped her for the first time (see the crotch story earlier in this thread if you don't know what I'm talking about).
AND... by popular demand, here she is in all her finished glory!

Some decent outdoor pics with a good camera. The little side covers are off because lately T has had to take the tank off a couple times a week to work on quirky little issues. We'll get there eventually!

I will definitely keep this thread updated as we continue to pick at the bike. We will probably be doing the chain sometime soon, which isn't really exciting enough for pics, but we'll be putting a fuel filter on it (didn't have one stock) and probably some other little things here and there.
Thanks to all who have offered encouragement and followed along during this whole process! [thumbsup]
WOW [thumbsup] [clap] [thumbsup] [clap]
My hats off to you. I don't believe I could have stuck it out as you have on your project.
Great job on the seat shaving.
Now get out [moto]
Looks great! I'm sure the scratches on the back are hardly noticable from a distance. Really, the bike looks great!

Congrats to you both!
You should post this on the Bandit board (maximum-suzuki.com)
[thumbsup] Nothing more statisfying than riding something you've rebuilt! Nice bike too, gauges are sexy love white faces. You've got to be tiny having a hard time with height on that thing? I always thought those were twins but I see to many pipes sticking out?!? ???
Definitely a bike to be proud of [thumbsup]
God damn that is a killer looking bike!
Great job to both of you [thumbsup][clap]
