looks like ... TROUBLE. [evil]
Saaaaaahhhhhweeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(but can they do something about the reservoirs?)
there are a few things I don't like about it:
I wish it had a fairing
The rake is too much
The reservoirs stick out in the wind
The headlight is a bit japanese
But overall it's a winner. I just hope the wheelbase and rake don't make it feel sluggish [popcorn]
Maybe it's just me but I have seen afterbirth that looks better than that.
Meh. Just not into the whole angular neo artsy crap that has been getting dumped into the market.
But then I also like Guzzis...
Finally, something ugly enough people might stop picking on our Multistrada's [laugh]
Gonna have to disagree..... ah nothing makes the multi less ugly :) An this is pretty bad @$$ [moto] [moto] [moto]
I agree with FB though, on the front glass, lack of front cowl, and reservoirs... some how I think the low cooler could be a bit smaller as well-then again I'm not an engineer.
How's this for angular and artsy?

Slap on some Rizoma reservoirs, undetail full termi exhaust and I'm sold.

Of course... those things are a given, along with a trick light-weight exhaust and some CRG's
It's a sad day for me filled with mixed feelings :-[ My Monster is gone! :'(
It makes way for the streetfighter but leaves a hole in my heart.
I could have sworn it turned and looked back as it rode away under the new owner [beer]

Why? Did he highside?
shouldn't you two be riding jap bikes?... :-\
IT'S UP ON DUCATI'S WEBSITE NOW!!! [thumbsup]
http://www.ducati.com/ (http://www.ducati.com/)
And while you're there check out the new Bayliss 1098R LE. nice!
man the bayliss is awesome [bow_down]
Can't wait to see the streetfighter in person, and after riding the 748s to work and stuff, I sure do miss my monster. Wonder if ergos will be the same as the monsters. Not too bad looking, really have to withhold judgment until I see it in person. Ducati sure is going in a whole new direction in styling. Kind of sad for seeing the S*R gone, but out with the old and in with the new.
Ergos like the monster? I think they look pretty good in this photo, not too upright but not overly agressive,
as usual Ducati nails the proper compromise between comfort and performance!!

I love the reference to the 1098 seen here in the scoops below the headlight. Although I would have prefered a fairing this looks pretty good...

You are right the ergos look pretty good. some good photos. I do think the scoops 1098 style is pretty cool. I also like the little bit of fairing around the oil cooler.
Flynbulldog, you sold the monster ??? ??? ??? Holy cow, well I guess if your going to get the street fighter, that is cool!!!! Never thought I would hear you sell monster though :o Congrats when you get the new steed.

I could find out where you live. And when I do, I'll post the address up on the multi board under the heading: atheistic, commie, multi hater. >:(
It IS a pretty bike and something I'd be glad to ride like hell, but not something I'd want to own. I side with ZLTFUL on this one. Monsters were better when they didn't look so . . . . Japanese.
And the headlight from the side looks like old-lady saggy boobies. :P

Company would be nice out here ;D Especially if you don't mind hole's the size of a 45 in your duds, or a 20 gauge perhaps [thumbsup]

You offering a BBQ? Horsey burgers?
Got some bbq going right now. As for Horsey burgers, you know where we have to go for some of those!
You'll still have to leave with some holes in a ya thou :-* [moto] :-* [moto] :-*
anyone else think that would have been better as the "new Monster"?

Nope not me, it is a streetfighter, it fits that segment along with the z1000, cb1000r, bking, speed triple, etc.
People in the US are not accepting it as it is, there would have been an uproar if they called it a Monster! [bow_down]
quit making sense!
Yep, the Monster is a basic platform from which to construct the ultimate dream machine (whatever that happens to be, as conceived by the artist). This version would fit some people's dream, but not most. So it couldn't be a Monster, just a refined streetfighter.
Gawd, I need to stop hanging around with those analytical types, and staying up late.... :P

Not to mention the Tuono. ;D
Should be pretty cool once the stock exhaust is ditched for a single high pipe or dual high mounts. Also, ditch the 696 mirrors.
Bulldog, you keep wishing it had a fairing...??? Streetfighters, by nature, do-not-hava-this!
Yeah and streetfighters tend to look like Optimus Prime, Ducati didn't disappoint there either
I mean a fairing in the way a monster has a fairing; a little windscreen. I hate riding a bike where all you see is handlebars and pavement,
I need a little something up front to give me some perspective.
I think this looks good and reminds of a 1098...

But you gotta admit, the real thing makes this rendition look LAME!
blech!
looks like a decepticon wasp.
That abomination is possibly the first ducati I wouldn't own.

Wow you're not very picky then... There's a LOT of Ducatis I wouldn't own The streetfighter is not among them. [bow_down]

And there are O so many more...
oh - I'm picky, but let's just say I'm also qwirky...
I just keep coming back to why do people need change for changes sake? seriously, did monster sales fall by 60% or something? also, no company but cisco has succeeded when led by marketing in recent memory.
The four valve monsters have always been a tough sell. The two valve version has out-sold them by as much as four to one in recent years. In 2008 400 four valve monsters were imported to the US and Canada, there are loads of them still sitting on showroom floors! And in fact there are even leftover 07's still in some dealers...
I have a friend who is close to some DNA insiders, I knew over a year ago that 08 would be the last of the four valve monsters but I didn't know about the Streetfighter. According to my source DNA's perspective is that monster buyers aren't typically going to fit into that $15K and above price range, they see the model as appealing to those in a lower price point.
The hope with the Streetfighter is that it will appeal to a more seasoned enthusiast that is willing to spend a little more to get a little more. Just like Honda's new CB1000R the Streetfighter is not aimed at the American market . The model will sell far better in Europe than it will in the US and I'm betting that's just fine with Ducati. But unlike the CB (that will not be available here) at least those of us in the US who do have some European sensibility will have the opportunity to buy a Streetfighter.
I could never figure out why so many find change so hard :-\
Everyone just has to jump into this game:

Did they steal the headlight from the new monster????
Wow, that thing is pretty bad ass!!!!!
Yeah, I'd freakin roll that Yamerhoper in second [drink]
Too bad it's only a promotional one-off
Oh and BTW that headlight is what comes on all the FZ1's in the rest of the world...
Because the Japanese marketing guys know all too well how we will react, In North America we get this:
