Hi all, I just started looking into Ducatis, and came across this forum. Looks like a great bunch, with lots of info. I've got lots of questions, so this seems to be the best place for answers.
I've got a DRZsm and previously worked my way from a 125 Vino, to a 250 Ninja, then to an SV650, now a DRZ400sm. I had a pretty nasty crash on the SV during a group ride with a fatality, and left me with a mess of internal injuries, as well as a shattered pelvis. I couldn't stay off the horse too long and picked up a new DRZ. I'm looking into picking up a Monster in the spring, but still undecided what I want. I'm trying to look into the differences between the S2R1K and the new 1100. Can someone point me a direction? [thumbsup]
welcome to the board Kevin
there is a really good write up in the general monster forum by one of our members on the monster 1100 (he got to go to spain and ride one for a week.)
in short, it comes down to the styling and the engine. i think everyone is going to like the 1100 engine, but some (myself included) prefer the older style monster.
good luck in your search.
Welcome to the DMF. Sorry to hear about your crash :(, hope you are healing up well.
Here is the thread on the 1100 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=13509.0) that herm mentioned.
And if you still have more questions, feel free to post up. General (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=1.0) is a good place to start and will get more traffic than here.
Best of luck with your decision. :)
Thanks for the link to the write-up. So many choices...I've got winter to shop around!
I'm healing well after the crash, and am still in physical therapy (need to correct my walk and strengthen my hip). It's a long process, but I'm progressing nicely.
I want to remind everyone to wear all of your gear all of the time. I was covered head to toe, and got away really lucky.
There is a time and a place for everything, the roads are not our personal racetracks, there are far too many variables.
I've slowed down considerably, please be safe and smart out there. Here is one shot from the accident scene that reminds me to wear my gear every time I throw my leg over a bike.

I definitely agree, ATGATT. Glad yours saved you. [thumbsup]
