Title: Scala communication
Post by: muskrat on November 05, 2008, 06:54:56 AM
Hey guys,
Now that my fiancee is learning to ride I was looking into communication systems.  Have any of you had experience with this product: http://cgi.ebay.com/Cardo-Scala-Rider-Q2-MULTISET-Bluetooth-Multi-Set-MP3_W0QQitemZ200268710875QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200268710875&_trkparms=72%3A543|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1308&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Thanks for your input.

...or there's always the "RichD School of Hand Signals."  [cheeky]

Personally, I'd get way too distracted to actually talk to someone else while riding.

Catie wants the same thing. Just a heads up, iPhones will not stream music over bluetooth. Some of the old ones did, but Apple fixed the problem  [bang]

I use hand signals all the time but for some reason drivers lunge their cars at me while I'm trying to speak to them in this manner  :o

I don't want to talk to anyone while I'm riding. No talk, no music, nothing. Just the sounds of the wind and bike please. [thumbsup] [moto]

I have an older model. I received one call on it and couldn't hear anything through the speaker at highway speeds. I believe it would work if you wore earplugs to filter out the wind noise though. My friend said the call was crystal clear on his end. I'm guessing there must be a receiver/transmitter mounted the bike that increases the range allowing bike to bike communication because there is no way bluetooth on its own will extend more than 20 meters.

I ordered it and will keep you posted on whether it sucks or not.
