Title: Attaching pigtails to the battery
Post by: erkishhorde on November 07, 2008, 07:33:00 PM
So, any suggestions on how to route the cables? When I screw them onto the "posts" on the battery it keeps the little rubber caps from going all the way down. Think this is a problem? I was debating bending the eyelets on the pigtails so that the rubber caps can sit properly. Dunno that it matters much but I'm attaching the pigtail for my Battery Tender.

Bending the eyelets should not be a problem...

I had mine folded between the battery and airbox.  Every time I wanted to used the tender I had to lift my tank, get the tails out and connect them.  I just got my bike back from Seattle Ducati after the 6k service.  The tails were routed back beside my rear brake master.  No more lifting the tank to get at em.

Why didn't I think of that?

Mine is routed towards the front through the clips of the airbox.  Of course if you don't have that anymore that could be a problem.

Mine is routed down the right side of the bike just under the tank. I can access it without lifting the tank...

I put the pigtails through the rubber boot and bent the terminal to match the existing. They come off as one now. The plug is down near the rear master cylinder.

Wow, your pigtails can reach wall the way back there? Are these the same pigtails that come w/ the battery tender? Mine is nowhere near that long. I've got it running along the right and it almost gets next to horizontal belt cover but that's about it. right now it's sharing a rubber strap w/ some of my other electricals. I'm gonna bend the eyelets tomorrow and see if I can find a better spot for it.

With some extra wire of the same guage and a few connectors, they can be as long as you need.
I added about 10" to mine in order to route them the way i wanted.
