Frasers have the "Official Opening" this Saturday.
I'm gonna go along for a look see, again you never know who or what might turn up.
Maybe a new M1100 after being seen at the Melbourne Bike show.
there is also the hot rumor the Bayliss will be there.
Hey Matty what time you going out?????
Up for a coffee at Meccas first???? [roll]
Haven't planned a time really.
Sure we can meet up at Mecca first then pop out there.
9:30-10am Mecca then.
11am out at Frasers, gotta be there before the free sausage sizzle gets cleaned out!
I'm IN!
;D
Ok im in [thumbsup]
Bring ya CC's there may be bargins, we could get 10-15% off RRP......
Dumb question I know, but what are they opening, a new shop?

It's the BIG dealership in Sydney, the front for Oz importers NFI.
Alot of people have had both good & bad dealings with them. :-\
excuse my ignorance, but where are they opening?

Just up the road @ Concord.

Cool, so meet at Mecca this sat morning, then to Frasers it is. Im in too... - chris
geeeeeeeeeeez the pier group pressure is getting to me, I'm in as well....
free legit parking at mecca, then to the new toy shop!
We'll always wear you down......
Besides you could never resist Mecca and a Ducati shopping dream in one day.
so:
10.00 am meet at mecca
11.30 am Frasers
3.00 pm a little run down the RNP?
what say you all?
yeah pretty much but we gotta get out there before the Pizza disappears at Frasers.

I'll probs join in [moto] ......unless its a perfect day then I am gonna thrash the crap out of the putty again like last week. oh so good. there was no-one there and all the cops where on old pac :)
I am in.... not sure I will make the trip to RNP, but see you all at Mecca 9.30 - 10.00.
Coffee [coffee] and window shopping [bow_down], thats usually the Mrs. "me time" up at Castle Towers [roll]. Any excuse to blow the cob webs out though [moto]

Don't you get fed at home Matty [laugh]
yeah but it's always good to eat someone else's food!
besides who doesn't like free [bacon] [popcorn] [coffee] mixed in with a little ride.
And just to clarify there wasn't any talk of going through the RNP before or after.
Apparently the [leo] are patrolling the park en-mass on the weekend to deter [moto]-bikers being in there.
Seems we have too many acco's on a weekend so they want to get rid of us.
So it's Mecca for a cafe then over to Frasers for some window shopping and whatever you can fit on your bike or in a backpack.
then home to explain just why it was a good and legitimate purchase.
If any are interested little run up the Old Pacific Highway might be in order after a snag.... ???? [thumbsup] [moto]

yes there was, i brought it up.
didn't know of the exaggerated [leo] presence. that's both good to know and keep away from. just thought there were more people south of the bridge coming along, and it's been a while for me on the [moto] with study and all - just lookin' for an excuse ya know [thumbsup]

Going south is even better as there is going to be lots of [leo] on the old road as a result of the weekend dismembering carnage [thumbsup]
Sorry Nick didn't see that you had popped that up.
Sth would be better as it is not an officially sanctioned [moto] day.
And I guess the [leo] will be out most places, but I think it was Don who said that the RTA are
paying the O/T bill for the [leo] to be in the Park each weekend.
No worries, how about we see how we go at Frasers
If we're there for an hour and bored = run to the pie shop
If we're entertained for hours, then maybe not.
lets call it on the day for any interested parties...
Hi all! :-)
Okay...I'm keen to join...but being a bit "wet behind the ears" here..which McDonalds are we referring to? WIll be coming from the 'Gong.
M.
no maccas - Mecca Espresso - cnr King and York Streets in the city - a little way to go from the gong, but the coffee is worth it!
Ah ha! Told you I a a little naive!
See you all there then. Doing a barista course on Friday, just for the hell of it...so might jump behind the counter! ;-)
M.
[laugh] Martin's lesson on how to win friends and influence people [laugh]
Firstly confusing coffee at Mecca with that at Maccas, then suggesting getting behind the counter to make coffee at said establishment.
Careful Martin. Some of the coffee snobs on here rate the barista at Mecca among the best three in the world (and they haven't found the other two yet) :P
there's no coffee snobs in Oz Monsters, are there?

yes i have have just polished Betty as i cannot attend, so let us know what is going to happen if it rain etc.
Well for me if it rains I'm not taking the bike out.
Because for me it ain't cool to bring a soaking wet bike back through my house to it's bed.

well its nearly 3am, just got home from an awards dinner for work and I can confirm
- its still raining in the inner west, tho not much
- i'm just a wee little bit drunk and I hope I awake in time as we have no beans in the house for morning espresso!
I'll be riding if I am sober enough, super and the rest of the "no ride in the rain crew"are soft!
Coastie update (don't know which way the weather is heading).
Had a rain last night for a while (approx. 8-10pm)
Winds picked up with the rain
Pretty decent light show
Doesn't seem to have been any rain since
Roads and paved areas are dry or drying
Green space is still wet
Skies are grey (not too heavy) but not raining
For Sydney, BOM is suggesting a shower or two today with the chance of a thunderstorm. The radar is showing clouds moving out to sea.
Soaked out my way.
Shit! What to do?

No Rain at Brighton just a bit damp and overcast :-\

No rain here up the road from Brighton.
Wet roads, grey clouds and a fast moving BOM radar.

might have to wait to see the new one late next year... either that or someone make a tank and fron end combination like this:
Well I got home about 3:30 ... probably 200kms all up and hardly a drop of rain. Wet road on the way down but no rain. On the return: wet road again on the trip down to the Hawkesbury with a few spits, then a shower on the north side of the river. Thruth be told pretty good weather for riding ... hardly anyone on the old road.
Goldie it certainly looks more comfortable than you on the M1100!
I tried on a few bikes for size and am feeling pretty happy with Betty at the moment. I had sat on a 696 before and it felt really small (considering I'm pretty small myself) and not too comortable on certain parts of the anatomy. The M1100 surpisingly doesn't feel that much bigger - certainly a shorter reach than the old style monsters. It may prove to be a little more comfortable than the 696 ... but the truth will be in the riding ... I think it could be a fun thing to take for a spin.
Now I am just waiting for a particular couple of photos ;D
here is our mucking around.
rest of them are on my flickr and Oz Monsters flickr

The quick and the dead, you see it you snap it.......
Just getting as many faces and people on the M1100 as possible.
You seemed to be there the most, oh and on the 848 also. Trying to make that decision for next year?

Yep it definitely helped (well sort of). I am probably starting to lean in a certain direction, still a very tough choice.
I missed out... riding the porcelain bus at 9:30am didnt help things much.
Good to see some of you made a day of it. - Chris
ps, matty, were's your gear! ;D
I was in Concord on Saturday and iching to come over. I got tied up with the son's baseball and then had to head back to get the other one from Cricket.
Betty, what about the 848? is it the one? I'm definitely wanting to book a testride to convince myself it could work for me as number 2 ride.
I was looking at the 848 with a very specific and short term idea in mind. I have never ridden a superbike (or full on sports bike or whatever you want to call it) and was just trying it on for size. For the type of riding I do and the type of rider I am (read not very good) I wouldn't be prepared to live with it day to day.
As far as a second bike ... could be the way to go - if it meets your specific needs. From the rumours about the cost of the new M1100 it will probably even seem affordable.
But I think Matty has probably given the 848 a little more thought than I have with a much longer timeframe in mind.
