Hi
Entertaining an exhaust mod on my stock '05 S2R800. The QuatD midpipe would replace the udder. I like the stock cans. Has anyone done this lone mod?
I ran the Quat-D mid pipe with stock cans for a while. It does deepen the sound a little bit, as far as being worth $400...I hated the look of the udder, and there wasn't a much cheaper way to get rid of it. Install was fairly simple, and I thought the quality of the pipe was great. I later found a Leo Vince slip on muffler, I like the looks but spent almost as much as going with a full system from the get go. I really wanted the ZARD's with one muffler on each side but $1500 was WAAAAAY to much for a guy with a wife and three kids!!!!!
Thanks for the response, BMonty. I'm on the same page as you are.

Here's my 06 800 w/ Quat-D midpipe & cored stock cans. The whole exhaust minus cans was Jet-Hot coated, and I'm also running a DP ECU & airbox. Bike sounds and pulls very nicely now. Yes, the Quat-D uses a crossover, it's a rectangular section piece with a large brass plug. I wouldn't know what that is for, unless it's for racing purposes or something. Also has an 02 bung for the sensor on earlier S4R's since the pipe also fits that model as well (non-Testa). A very well-made unit and I'm happy with mine. I got it for I think 385 from Motowheels a long time ago. Also plan to paint the clamps as I am aware that they stick out like a turd in a punchbowl.

Polished are very nice, but they'll look strange with the rest of the stock set-up. Today, 309 euros = US$393.02. So, this polished unit is actually less money than the QuatD stock stainless.
I was trying to reply earlier but kept getting an error message. Anyway, yes there is a crossover, yes it has the big brass plug, I believe that is where the O2 sensor goes if you bike has one. The Quat-D is a very well made piece. I got mine from monsterparts.com Now they sell Sparks mid-pipes too, but I'd have to check the price. Jeff is great to work with and very helpful.
